neilwillis Posted October 23, 2003 Posted October 23, 2003 I holed my tank within 1000 miles cuz of the wishbone mounting bolts. I'd suggest a thin sheet of carbon fibre between the tank and any likely harpoons. Still got mine bolted up the same way, and the cf works a treat. Quote

Bananaman Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 V7 SLR Might be worth asking for some info from Birkin, I beleive that they are/have developed an IRS setup for there car which is a Lotus 7 chassis, same as a Caterham chasis more or less. Andy Quote
Blatman Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 Yup. The Birkin IRS car was at Autosport this year. Looked niiiiiiiiiiice......... Quote
V7 SLR Posted October 24, 2003 Author Posted October 24, 2003 Thanks. I'll czech/cheque it oot. Quote
simonbell Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 V7 Birkin have done it. The car they have at the moment has a Quaife IRS diff unit which is really tasty but at £2500 a tad expensive. They have created a kindof subframe for the diff into which you can mount a Quaife unit, a Sierra unit or a Subaru unit. They have their own ali uprights and the wishbones are the same eliptical section as used on the fronts. I don`t have any photos as I haven`t seen a bare chassis yet and as the fuel tank now sits above the diff it`s hard to get a good photo on a fully built car. Quote
