Well done matey!

Did you put in the prop at the same time?

Nah! would have been ideal to do it then but we wanted to be 100% sure of the dimensions of the prop and we thought this was best checked with everything in place! Not too much hassle to let the engine drift forward thou' should the prop, when done, prove difficult to get in.

As a side issue got a quote for new twin 45's webers, manifold, filters and linkages and all the bits necessary to fit for £848 inc, ouch!!! Does this sound about right, this was from Burtons!

Its sounds a bit pricey, have a good look on ebay manifolds frequently come up for between 40-70. I got my carbs and manifold off there. Just be careful though on the wear in spindles, what chokes are fiitted (jets will need tweaking anyway I think) and the linkages.  You'll probably want to  get a refurb kit off ebay too (about 15 notes each I think)

There is a really good website (but you'll have to do a Blatman and search on here) which will give the jetting /chokes details for the set up you want

I'll have a look at my own files later to see if I can find anything of interest.

Cheers

SDV is meant to be a cheap way of owning a Westfield £848 is a big wedge to shell out.  I got my carbs from www.rallyusedparts.co.uk and cost £250 (this incuded the manifold and linkage and filters).  And I thought this was a bit expensive.

As for fitting the propshaft - when you get the thing made up there is usually about an inch of play in the gearbox splined bit which allows the propshaft to move a little due to vibrations or changes in length due to heat or whatever.  However this inch of play means it is really easy to fit and in fact took me about five minutes to fit. I would definatly do it when the engine is in.

whoops it's all gone a bit technical
