Paul

The price guide in Classic Cars says

Private Mint £4,500, Average £2000, Rough £1000

Classic & Sports Cars says for a 280 Brooklands

Show £5,200

At the back of the workshop - under covers and on axle stands is a mint condition Capri 280.  E plate (1989) with a genuine 18k on the clock.

I think you'll find that 'E' Plate will be 87/88..... ???  ;)

I drove past a Capri in a pub car park yesterday and thought 'there's a Capri', then I noticed the 280 wheels, the dark green paint and the 280 badge, totally different - was definately the best one out there and it's looks so much more modern whilst retaining the classic Capri shape. :D:) Get your hand in your pocket Paul before someone else sees it!

Don't buy it unless it's got the essential furry dice extras(otherwise it could well be a repro)  :sheep:

Probably a good idea to contact someone at The Capri Club and try and discover why its got cream leather and not the Raven leather and why its got the wrong wheels on it.Could be a very rare factory jobbie or could be a personal "improvement".Worth finding out though!There are a few out there for sale.....some very cheap some not quite so cheap.Got to be an improvement on a Rover!

Update;

Sorry guys - a couple of corrections.  Been to see it again today.  It does have black ( well sort of very dark charcoal grey) leather seats - and it does have seven spoke alloys, not 5.  Thanks for the correction on the E plate thing - it is a 1988 (not 99 as I said).  We are haggling right now - his opening gambit is 7k.  Will keep you posted.

I had a black 2.8 for five years, loved that car to bits. Engine blew after two weeks of ownership, so took the opertunity to fit a piper race cam and Janspeed exhaust, car was fantastic after that.

Upgraded to the LSD and Blatter is bang on, wet roundabouts are an endless source of pleasure.... Except when I got over enthusiastic and ended up sailing backwards into ASDA's carpark.

Still the best (as in enjoyable) car I have owned. Only got rid when the rust worm became faster than my welder :D

Buy it, love it and let me have a drive one day :love:

I used to have a 1983 2.8 capri. Like you I discovered it by accidant and it only had 20,000 from new. Beautifull car. 2800rpm in top gear was 100mph.

Buy it.
