S8ight Posted October 18, 2003 Posted October 18, 2003 The trouble is that hardly any of us realise that we are being crap behind the wheel untill we incure the wrath of another driver and then of course it's all the other guys fault. i'm on the way home the other day, just come off the roundabout outside the Mersey tunnel, im in the right hand lane passing a silver Vectra the Vectra wanders about 2' into my lane, the driver then beeps and hurls abuse at me what the f###s the score there ? it was a woman driver by the way Quote
chazpowerslide Posted October 20, 2003 Posted October 20, 2003 Mmmmmmm, to be abused by a woman Quote

Had a similar thing happen to me one - big 4x4 sitting at a car park exit waiting to pull onto a busy road. I was in the lane nearest the pavement when I saw him fannying around with something in the car (probably a mobile phone...) and he started to creep forward into my lane. I had cars alongside me and one close behind so I couldn't change lane and stamping on the brakes would have resulted in me risking being rear-ended (oooerrr missus) by some dozy driver behind. He wasn't going to cause me major problems provided he stopped so I just gave a short beep of the horn to let him know I was there so that he might stop creeping forward. You should have seen the ensuing abuse and shouting that resulted..... I actually thought it was quite sad that someone has to react in this way when they were doing something wrong but couldn't admit it to themselves.... Quote
StuartMackay Posted October 20, 2003 Posted October 20, 2003 Just bought myself a Roadangel....super piece of kit....saved my licence today as it warned me of the camera on the A43 approaching Silverstone and (of course) I was sticking to the legal speed limit and not chatting on the hands free in my Volvo T5!!l!! Have a look at www.blackspot.com (nothing to do with acne!! Quote
Nick M Posted October 20, 2003 Posted October 20, 2003 Pah ! I was out for 5 hours in the Westy yesterday and saw about 3 or 4 police cars but NO speed traps and no fixed cameras. It was quite enjoyable Now, I was knowingly exceeding the speed limit on a few stretches of road but seeing as they were remote mountain passes it seemed rude not to !! The 30mph limits would be the safe maximum for stupidly big SUV but in the Westfield I just assumed they were *minimum* speeds ! Anyway, it was nice to be able to concentrate on my driving rather than worrying if there was a speed camera round the next bend Now admittedly the police do still lurk out there waiting to nab you but, here in Arizona at least, they only use radar so a decent radar detector is a must. And radar is easier to detect than laser by all accounts (bigger beam or summat....). Quote
