SADDLEWORTH Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 I can only agree with Nick in this instance. Is the use of this public forum to bring pressure on SBD in the best interests of all concerned. From a personal opinion,Steve of SBD has freely given more infomation regarding engines and chassis development than any one else associated with the Westfield club. How many people on this forum have picked his brains via the telephone, i certainly have, regards . Fair But should only take the money of his visa when sending the items out,and would be right for sbd to call and tell him whats happening. Quote
ChrisF Posted February 12, 2005 Author Posted February 12, 2005 Just an observation, but there's a few comments in this thread which appear to be based on second-hand information or hear-say Nick I figure you mean Chaz's comments...we know each other well and he knows my full story, so he is actually correct in what he says. However as I said in my earlier posts, I have resisted making comment until now and I did not want to open a can of worms or intentionally slag off any particular company. For the record I have had weekly conversations with SBD and it is just enough to say that fustration lead me to enquire if anyone else was also in my position. I'm still waiting for the call to cofirm if the goods are now available. For the record SBD have some very very good products...thats why I have held out for my exhaust for so long. Also, yes I know Steve does give good advice and freely However my post was intended to find out the extent of their supply problem, so I could make a valued decision on how long I should wait for my goods...as I said, I fear I have opened a can of worms which was not my intention..We all have to make a living and we all have customers who believe our companies are the best..or maybe the worst, at what we do. My problem has been with purely a supply issue which has gone on too long. I would be grateful if this thread could now be considered finished before it goes any further. Quote
mud Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 it's a fair point,so i have deleted my postings because the person who put up the original posting now has his answer Quote
chazpowerslide Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 Thanks for clarifing my knowledge of the events Chris, I should have done that myself when I posted. I am sorry if my previous thread was taken as me having a pop at SBD it emphatically was not. Neither was it intended to dammage their reputation, sully their name or infer that they would deliberatly misslead or have a bad attitude towards their customers. I can see why Nick posted his observations. Chris and I are good friends, I sold him the engine, carbs, clutch and lots of the other bits he's using in his CVH to XE conversion. I'm as keen to see the project up and running as he is and share his fustrations that the project will still not be complete by the time the Cams area kicks of at the end of this month. I am at present battling with another supplier of Westfield related goods/services who are blaming third parties for un-acceptable delays in sorting things out so I have a bit of a "thing" about this at the monent. Chaz. Quote
Nick M Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 Like I said, it was merely and observation and I think you see how easy it is for comments on a public forum to interpreted in a number of different ways, only one of which would be the correct way. Hindsight, keeping things in context, how posts might be perceived, etc. - all important things to consider when posting about particular issues. We all rave about certain companies, but people should be aware of the pitfalls and experiences of others. If somebody comes along and reads a thread or wants to buy something surely it would be amiss for somebody to say, "great product" and neglect to mention they had crap service? Yep, I agree. But again, it must be factual and kept in context. I only ever recommend companies which I *know* will deliver the goods (no pun intended) and will only ever criticise a company if I *know* I'm not the only one to have had problems. For example, I frequent a photography forum from time to time and someone posted a thread called "Bait and Switch" (an illegal practice in the US which involves false advertising and stitching up customers) in connection with a well regarded camera shop in New York. Now, it turns out that *he* made the mistake by ordering the wrong part and fortunately someone from the shop keeps an eye on the forum and responded accordingly. But there were at least two or three comments from people who said "whoa !! I'm never ordering from them again !!" despite having been repeat customers for some time. So it's easy to do the damage, much harder to repair it afterwards. So, I'll stop flogging this dead horse now and just end by saying "play nice kids" and don't let frustration cloud your judgement.
