PhilH Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Im looking for a new van.I ran a renault Traffic for 2 years and it was good but there were a few issues with it.Does anyone know if the Nissan Primestar comes off the same production line as the Traffic or is it assembled by Nissan.Any one any comments on these or recommend a similar van.Needs to be 8ft long in the back.Is there any difference between these and the VX version. Thanks Phil Quote
Vinny's Westie Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 The Renault/Fiat(anymore??)/Vauxhall/Nissan Vans are all made in the same factory. The difference is cost is related to the standard equipment you get. Renault are the main contributor of money so have the best spec. for your money (ABS as standard etc). By the time you add all the options to get a like for like figure the Renault is usually cheapest. Word of warning though, if you do buy a Renault DO NOT BUY from a Renault car dealer as the car dealer warranty applies, which is crap, I know I have one. Buy from the Renault lorry dealership, same van at the same price, but a different end company, you get the Renault Truck backup, not the best in the industry, but certainly a thousand times better than anything the car dealer can offer. It took three weeks for the Cardiff Renault Car Dealership to do a 3/4 hour job, whereas the truck dealer would have done it the same day. You get the same warranty of three years but you cannot change a Car dealership registered van to a Truck dealership van, I know I had holy S**t with the dealer. With regard to Fords, the Scania dealership I use have them and the backup is crap with those as well, along with Volkswagen. He can't buy Renault because of a conflict with the truck dealership, we've had a good moan about them all and Renault from a Truck dealer is about the best. Some truck dealers may have a demo, used to deliver parts that can save a significant amount for a little mileage. Hope it helps and best of luck Cheers Quote
