Bronco Jr Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 b*******..... TBH in a westie dont think it would have mattered either way (windscreen or aeroscreen). Does make you think, should it have been a person then westie driver would likely be history too. Still we can't dwell on these things, when you numbers up and all that..... Quote
GWatson Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Look at the guys signature who posted it.. Hmm paintball... the would have the desired effect. www.wannaplaypaintball.com www.sicpaintball.com www.wppseries.com Last edited by HypershockerU2 on 01-25-2005 Quote
neilwillis Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 They must have been really shifting to make such a mess. And I agree, tin top, windscreened or aeroscreened Westie, unless you'd been sat in the passenger seat, you'd not have survived that sort of impact. Quote
I.S.M Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 anyone else see the 1000km from mount panorama (aka Bathurst)? a driver hit a kangaroo - dint alf make a mess of falcon/holden...................Commentator was funny though ~ "flaming galaa/struth" Quote
a4gom Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Never hit a deer, plenty of rabbits in road rally days! But I can confirm that a pigeon hurts when it hits you on the chest at 130+ mph. Obviously can't say I was doing that or where I would do something like that. (theres an awful nice stretch of road at the top of Harewood Hillclimb at 6am on a sunday morning but watch out for the birds.) Quote
I.S.M Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Visiting rolls royce in derby i did get to see the 'goose gun' they use to simulate 'bird strike' Quote
neilwillis Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 I saw a program about the bird strike test. Jet engines now have to survive a multiple brid strike, and only lose a maximum of 25% of their power, and continue to operate normally. The technology involved is incredible - fan blades distort temporarily to absorb the enrgy, and within a couple of revolutions, return to the original shape - all at huge pressures, temperatures and speeds. Hats off to Rolls Royce, the test strike resulted in a slight change in engine noise due to the distortion of the blades, followed by - I think they said an 11% - drop in power. Dunno how a VX, Zetec, or to be fair, a Crossflow would survive having a deer sucked into the air intake! Quote
Frau Vesty Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Ewwwww...but something strikes me as not quite right about all of that. Look at the lovely, smooth, rounded, untouched liver lying on the floor. Whoops! Fell out there just like that did it? And how did the heart manage to fall, on it's own, out of the middle of the chest and ribcage at the back of the car. I suspect that there has been a little sensational tinkering going on for maximum impact (if you'll pardon the pun! there. [/cynic] Quote
mrblondie Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 call me cynic but that looks a bit to fake.... .... wouldnt there have been a clean...ish... siloette shape around where the driver was sat ? Quote
pistonbroke Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 and how do the entrails get around the dashbaord area ? can't see how a front on collision would cause that looks like jiggery pokery going on paint shop pro or what ? Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Certainly looks all wrong I'd have thought. The paintball guns look like they've helped a lot on the interior. Quote
Rob Navin Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Fake or not, it has convinced me. If I get a 4X4 again it will not have an aero screen Quote
