corsechris Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Anyone got one kicking about spare? Thanks for looking....
thos Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Think I've got one at home alright. Had 2, blew up one, so I'll just checkout the other one, I may have removed the mounts from it. It's an 8v one, which I think is 3bar, the 16v one's were slightly higher I think.
corsechris Posted January 28, 2005 Author Posted January 28, 2005 Cracking - thanks thos.... 3 bar will be fine. Please PM me with price etc once you've had a chance to check it out. Cheers Chris
Karl Woolf Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Sorry for jumping in, I`m looking for a swirlpot for a westy FI conversion. Does this mean a golf GTI has a built in one I can use instead Any more info appreciated Cheers Karl
cidersurfer Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 Karl The Mk2 Golf GTI pumps are mounted in an 'accumulator' which is basically a plastic pot. IIRC, one of it's aims on the VW is to retain fuel pressure on the rail when the engine is switched off, it doesn't swirl the fuel to remove air though, but does allow for a small tank of fuel to be available to the FI pump if the 'other' is interrupted (for whatever reason). It has several connections on it which are fuel in from tank, return to tank, fuel out to rail, fuel in from fuel pressure reg. There are several specs fitted to the Mk2 GTIs. I think the K jetronic version fitted to the Mk2 GTI 16V is good for 4 bar and the 8V good for 3bar. There are others too, such as the Digifant system. Some discussion on it here. They're ugly little b*******s though (I've got one! ) HTH Chris
