Hi there, I hope that the WSCC crowd don't mind me posting this here and that I haven't stated the bleedin' obvious too many times in my descriptions...

Over at http://www.seloc.org we will be organising a Sprint championship this year. A sprint is basically a track event where you do a lap alone against the clock. It is a pretty cheap form of motorsport as A) No competitors to contact, :D Licence is paid for, no ARDS required/medical etc C) No silly entrance fees and D) Classes to suit each car- you won't get put in directly against Single seaters, etc!

For further details:

Proban race suits with 20% off

A Noble on the course

A Caterham on the course

Aside from the proban (or better) suit you'll need a BS Type A helmet (from any Motorbike shop) but no fancy shoes/gloves etc.

Its a fun way to get the thrill of competition without the enormous bills of Circuit racing. Come and show us what you are made of!

The first event will be at North weald Airfield (nr Stansted) with Further rounds there, The Lotus Test Track nr Norwich and at Lydden Hill.

The events will be approx £55 a time to enter so once you've factored in the suit, etc over the series then it cheaper than Trackdays!

No medical required, licence application is a formality, no test required, Proban suit is about £60, standard cars with standard tyres are perfect.

p.s. For those who remember I'm the teacher building a Westfield with some pupils as a School project. Progress is slowly but surely at the moment. I'm sure it will be finished, I just hope there is still some petrol around when we do it! ;)

As long as you put a similarly long and detailed advert about the Westfield Speed Series on the SELOC Forums, I doubt anyone would object. Quid pro quo

As for stating the obvious. Yup. A lot... :p

Ah well, better to put all the info in to save confusion. If someone would like to email me details of the WSCC series I'll happily put it up on SELOC to reciprocate the favour. I've pretty much replicated what we've been telling our members, just trying to point out you don't have too many hoops to jump through to go racing.

If you don't get fed up of us at the North Weald sprint the Seloc and Wscc speed series are at Hethal on the same day later on in the year.
