steppenwolf Posted January 27, 2005 Author Posted January 27, 2005 A 12 bob note? I thought they only went up to 11 bob? Quote
jonlewis Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Exactly... Some of these scams are getting harder to spot. Had one for Paypal the other day that actually was identical to the real thing... Quote
steppenwolf Posted January 27, 2005 Author Posted January 27, 2005 Thanks Jon, I was sure that it was a scam but confirmation is appreciated. Now, have I got time to wind them up ...... errrr ...... unfortunately not but it would have been fun! Quote
JulianS Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 I've had a few of these - report it to ebay (there is a fraud report link on their site) and they will trace & log it Quote
Blatman Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Why the doubt? NONE of the reputable organisations that have web shopping will ever ask you to fill in a form that requires your user name and password. They'd put it in to your account messages system (Ebay has a private message/mail system similar to the boardroom) and either tell you you have a new message that requires you to log in and respond, or they'll let you find it next time you log in. ANY email that asks for account details is phishing... Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Ebay also have a section on their web site where you can forward & report any emails like this that you're not sure about. At least gives you a little peace of mind, though how much effort (if any) they go to to track down the scum responsible, I don't know. Edited to add: I've had a few of these - report it to ebay (there is a fraud report link on their site) and they will trace & log it Must type faster. Must type faster. Must type fa... Quote
steppenwolf Posted January 27, 2005 Author Posted January 27, 2005 I have sent a copy of the email to Ebay and had a suitable response from them but I suspect that they receive hundreds of these so it will not be news to them. Quote
CedricTheBrave Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 but they MUST all be reported if they don't know whats happening then they can't act against them. ALWAYS report fraudulent emails and help stop this getting worse than it is. Quote
