adhawkins Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 Err...no seat belt? Are you mad? Andy Quote
a4gom Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 I know its no excuse and no defense but I have never worn one until recently mainly due to my job, in and out of the vehicle all the time and its a hard habbit to break, when I started to drive it was advisory, some vehicles didn't even have seat belts. I have also been involved in some major accidents (pre airbags) as both driver and passenger and I have come off better than those in the car with seat belts on. Even when the car rolled 3 times. I am trying very hard now to wear it but still forget every now and then. Having said that I have always had 6 point harness when competing in any form of motorsport and have always worn it. Quote
DENNISTHEMENACE Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 As an ex retailer of plates (until regs changed) the true reason why stick on number plates are illegal is that they do not conform to the correct RIGIDITY (as they are not at all rigid obviously! A supplier did try to sell his stock with a rigid backing supplied, but a stop was soon put to that by DVLA. The new(ish) regs apply to number plates made after a certain date, anything prior to that is ok. So, we all fitted stick on plates before the changes, did we not Quote
Pembroke Pat Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 I took a copper friend of mine out in the westie. He was instructed not to look at the speedo while I was driving When he got out he noticed the lack of front plate. I explained the situation re illegal stick on plates and he agreed that the best thing is to carry on as I was doing i.e. a broken front plate behind the passenger seat! Quote
ricco2001 Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 As far as im aware, the only cars that it is legal to have a stick on plate is a Jaguar E Type and the new Ford GT. Quote
dac3774 Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 Errrrrrrrrrrr Anyone seen the plate on the front of the Westfield XTR4 as tested by Jeremy Walton in this months Westfield World? Wasn't that a public road that the car was being driven on? Tusk Tusk. I hope they had a proper plate wedged behind the seat. p.s. why do you think it is only legal for a GT40 and E type to be allowed to display a sticky plate - I dont get it. One rule for the landed gentry and another for us? Quote
LUCKY COD Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 PLATE? PLATE? why bother i just have the relivant letters and numbers stick on the nose cone in the right order, any sticky background would not be reflective so why bother, if anyone can help with my bail money I would be blah blah Quote
