wookie Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 Does anyone have any recommendations on tool cabinets? I’m looking for one on wheels, bottom cabinet and top one. I was just wondering what people have got & if they are happy with them, (quality and finishes) before I splash some cash out. Cheers Steve Quote
Martin Keene Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 I've got a Clarke one from Machine Mart. Perfectly acceptable quality for the abuse they get, chucking tools in them etc. Quote
Blatman Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 Halfords Pro always look good to me. They're black, so you can tell which ones are the Pro series. The roller cab doesn't seem to be on their web site... Nice 7 drawer top chest though... Quote
Westfieldman Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 The best tools and equipment this side of the Atlantic is made by Facom Quote
wookie Posted January 20, 2005 Author Posted January 20, 2005 Facom are a top make but the price reflects it! http://www.tooled-up.com/ManSubC....SCID=96 Quote
Westfieldman Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 Facom are a top make but the price reflects it! I get a GOOD discount plus that tool boxwas a 40th Birthday present. Quote
zoso Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 Sealy (i think) are doing those rather drool worthy stainless steel roll cabs at the moment... expensive, but nice... Other wise i'd go with machine mart, i like clarke stuff, cheap and well usable... Quote
Boxerman33 Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 For those on a tighter budget, Screwfix do a reasonable quality FERN 6 drawer chest AND cabinet for just 79.99.........................BARGAIN methinks Quote
a4gom Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 Only advise I'd give is by twice the size you think you will need. It won't take you long to fill it and you won't get much for your second hand one when you want a bigger one. Quote
steppenwolf Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 Machine Mart (Clarke) well enough made and very sensibly priced. My original roll cab arrived damaged but their service in replacing it immediately was excellent. Quote
Mark B Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 Ditto for the Clarke stuff from machine mart, especially if you can wait for a vat free day, excellent value. Mark. Quote
mr-rad Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 Buy a good second hand Snap On roller cab and top box. IMO far better than inferior copies by cheap outlets. Facom do some funky stuff. They used to make vise grips that the jaws were interchangable, handy when you've just welded em to your job. Quote
Darrell O'Neill Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 CLarke. Here too...... Go for the HD Plus range. Not quite Snap-On but Bl**dy good Quote
KerryS Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 Clarke at Machine Mart - was going for non-roller bearing drawers but clever wife {!} made me get ones with balls {!} - good choice. Kerry S Quote
Westfieldman Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 Here is a link to Facom's web site page on tool cabinets Quote
