It makes me a litte annoyed that the Diesel driver is paying for the petrol price war.

3p Tax Difference

6p Difference at the pumps. The recent reductions have not been applied to diesel, therefore the 35% of all cars + all vans are financing the reduction for everyone else.

Diesel - distill in Crude Unit - Hydrotreat (remove sulphur) - Blend - Sell

Petrol - Distill in Crude Unit - Hydrotreat (remove sulphur and nitrogen) - Reform, Isomerise, Crack, Alkylate,

Ok so there are more processes to make petrol than diesel but you can't make diesel without making petrol ( i.e. it all comes from crude oil) so you are back to supply and demand.
