hilux Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 I must admit that I havent seen one in the flesh but I think it looks (slightly) better than a Westfield. It may be the side screens which are definitely a nicer design than Westfields. The rear lights are cool IMO and I think the rear skirt/bumper `adds` to the otherwise plain rear ends seven type cars have. I`m not sure about the nose cone ducts though. Quote
marin Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 http://www.hkt-7.de I like HKTs even better (but then I'm biased, since I have one myself IMO they are of similar build quality as the Donks, but with a more sensible price tag. -Marin Quote
hilux Posted September 28, 2003 Author Posted September 28, 2003 I like HKTs even better (but then I'm biased, since I have one myself I`m not surprised that you like them They do look like a quality car . The Audi turbo GTS is 900 kg all up weight and does 0-62 in 4.1 secs Are HKT`s all aluminiun like the Donkervoort Quote
conibear Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 I've seen one in the flesh and it has to be said they are a stunning Seven, but they should do co's the one I was looking at, cost £50k. It was brand new and it has just been SVA'd (Aug03), it had an Audi TT 180bhp engine and weighed in at 650kg. So I am sure you will all agree the Westfield is a better car, as it is my opinion they are meant to go fast. Ian Quote
hilux Posted September 28, 2003 Author Posted September 28, 2003 the Westfield is a better car Both cars have merits and attributes so its impossible to say which is the better car but ........ as it is my opinion they are meant to go fast. ......what is slow about a car thats 900 kg and 4 secs to 60 Imagine if it was lightened to (say) 750 kg..... all the busa boys would be seriously pi**ed off Audi turbo in XTR2, what dya reckon ? Quote
marin Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 900kg is the max. permitted weight (car wet + max. load). Empty weight is 600-650kgs. The HKTs are rectangular steel tubing frames with GRP nose/bonnet and rear and aluminium side panels. -Marin PS: Had to post a pic of the Wingmonster-HKT here: Quote
hilux Posted September 28, 2003 Author Posted September 28, 2003 900kg is the max. permitted weight (car wet + max. load). Empty weight is 600-650kgs. OOOps You`re right. My German isnt that good, I read the wrong bit on the HKT site That nosecone spoiler would look good on many a Westy IMO Quote
conibear Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 I thought the thread was about Donkervoort or what ever there called, not Audi. But what the hell. The Audi you are talking about how much is it?, I'd bet it's more than my CEC Westy which is all new and probably faster being approx 425 bhp/tonne with LSD, but maybe you'll know. I think you'll find Westfield have tried the Audi TT Turbo lump in their XTR and tested it at Rockingham, they blew it up and I heard on the grapevine they are considering other avenue's for power. Is'nt the Donkervoort dutch? Ian Quote
marin Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 Donkervoort are Dutch, HKT are German, and as far as i know, HKT extract up to 330 Horsepower from the Audi 1.8T. -Marin Quote
marin Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 Oh, and you can get the basic Turbo HKT for 38.500 Euros - available only factory built. Quote
conibear Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 38,500 euro's is currently in Germany no more than £30,100. So are you saying thats cheap!!!!!!!!!!! My engine in my car will go beyond that i'm told and it would be cheaper than £30k. 330 bhp from 1800cc is unbelievable, where on earth are these figures recorded and if true, it's got to have blower on it which is only straight line stuff, i'm not interested and I'd bet you have'nt got 330bhp, but someone reportably has. Ian Quote
marin Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 I never said it was cheap, I said I was less money than Donkervoort want for their cars (i.e. silly money) Also, if you read the post right above your last one, you will find the word "Turbo" there, so yes, the current HKTs are not naturally aspirated. And no, I don't have that kind of power, my HKT is powered by a lowly 1800 Zetec, but I still like it. Please also note that nowhere I said one car is better than another, I just pointed out that these cars exist! Cheers Marin Quote
Mark Stanton Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 Yep the Donks are Dutch and a bit more expensive than Westfields but (IMHO) they are very nice cars The weather gear is excellent stuff Quote
