Mark Stanton Posted September 23, 2003 Posted September 23, 2003 Bad luck Jon - hope something comes along soon What's your expertise Quote
david.c Posted September 23, 2003 Posted September 23, 2003 We know that you thought it was coming. Had you started looking yet? Good luck with the hunting. David Quote
shaun Posted September 23, 2003 Posted September 23, 2003 Sorry to hear your news Was made redundant myself last month. It was all doom and gloom at the time and was thinking about selling the Westie. To make things worse I was also in the process of moving house - bigger mortgage etc. Since then I have had 3 job offers to choose from. It has been hard to turn down the other 2 jobs, but the job I am going for really suits the location I am moving too. At least you have until December which means you can start looking now. If something turns up soon you might have a bit of extra cash to spend on a few extras for the Westie. I am sure things will work out well for you, just keep positive and like me you'll probably find something better. Quote
dasamdy Posted September 23, 2003 Posted September 23, 2003 Sorry to hear that mate, something will come up, if you find something that's not really your bag but pays well it keeps the bread-knife off your back until you find something that really does suit you Are you on for the meet Thursday?? Cheers Dave Quote
taffy Posted September 23, 2003 Posted September 23, 2003 Been there, done that, dont let the ba....ds grind you down. you will find somthing soon. Rob Quote
Major Stare Posted September 24, 2003 Author Posted September 24, 2003 Cheers for the support guys. Im on garden leave soon and employed/paid untill December 9th, so i'll be job hunting in late October/November. I have been offered another job closer to home which i will be working at during my garden leave, if i like the job i will apply for it. I just need to ensure it is for me and it pays at least £24k and a car.....i wonder if they will buy me a Westy for a company car, its a shop based job with only commuting to worry about !!! Dave, i cant make this weeks meeting as its my birthday and im off out Quote
Rob Navin Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 Hard luck mate. Hope you get sorted soon. Have you sorted out what will go wrong for them the day you walk out Quote
cast iron Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 Pecker up. Sometimes it can be the shove you need that makes all the difference. Best of luck Quote
Major Stare Posted September 26, 2003 Author Posted September 26, 2003 Have you sorted out what will go wrong for them the day you walk out Oh yes...thats all in hand An e-mail to all i know will be sent saying ive left the company, its been good etc. Then another e-mail on time delay for when i have left, to a couple of people telling them what i think of them....w@nk£rs. I will then delete from one of the main drivers, a couple of company documents/process that have took me 6 months to write. Quote

Dave, i cant make this weeks meeting as its my birthday and im off out Jon take the job thats been offered as its easier toget employment whilst working and it shouldn't matter what the money is because "Less money of what your earning now is better than less than f**k all when you haven't got a job to go to" and you will really kick yourself when you start biting into your Westy budget... Pride is for loosers be a winner take less and then look for a job that pays and suits what you want.Think long term not short term Here ends the lecture....may the force be with you Buzz Quote
S8ight Posted September 26, 2003 Posted September 26, 2003 at least you have plenty of notice. my last propper job my boss came in at 11.00 in the morning and told me i was finished, then gave me a birthday card for my wife and this was about three weeks before our son was born. mind you i had been trying to get the sack for about six months though went self employed six months later and have never looked back Quote
oioi Posted September 26, 2003 Posted September 26, 2003 redundacies not all bad, i recently went through a factory closeur and most of my friends got similar or better jobs (plus large pay off). my one suggestion is dont do anything rash in harming or insulting people at previous company, you dont know who will be your boss in five years time... Quote
david.c Posted September 26, 2003 Posted September 26, 2003 then gave me a birthday card for my wife Nice touch Seconded on the don't burn your bridges comment. You never know. David Quote
perksy Posted September 26, 2003 Posted September 26, 2003 Sorry to hear this jon, i've been there and got the T-shirt on this subject. Make sure the Redundancy Cheque clears before you hatch any 'cunning plan' to get even. Decide what really are the chances of working with any of the bosses etc in 5 years time, before deciding on how or if to exact a bit of 'pay back'. Quote
