chazpowerslide Posted September 15, 2003 Posted September 15, 2003 Is there something wrong with Hotmail at present? I've not been able to get in either direct or via Outlook for 4 days now. Is it likely to be my laptop? Is it a coincidence that my laptop has "frozen" on two occasions in the last couple of days (never done it b4) Any ideas from you computer techi types? Chaz. Quote
markboyce Posted September 16, 2003 Posted September 16, 2003 Ah! so you wouldnt of got my email then. Have you started using that sump I sold you yet? If not can I buy it back off you. Quote
Camel_Landy Posted September 16, 2003 Posted September 16, 2003 I don't think there's anything wrong with Hotmail at the moment, I suspect the problem might be with your 'pooter. What OS are you running? There's a couple of nasty viruses running around at the moment so it could be that you've been infected with one of those. Is the following present on your system? C:\WinNT\System32\MSBLAST.EXE M Quote
moomin Posted September 16, 2003 Posted September 16, 2003 Hi Chaz, I've been having problems with mine too. But I can get in ok at work, just not at home... wonder if it's a local ntl thing? Dave Quote
chazpowerslide Posted September 16, 2003 Author Posted September 16, 2003 Could be an NTL thing I suppose. I get a "cant find server" message after an age of waiting. On Outlook I get an error window saying the header page did not download and something about SSL? The rest of it seems to be ok appart from the twice the computer has frozen. I'm not using the sump yet Mark as the SE is not yet built (just finished the other one) but I will be using it soon, sorry mate!!!!!! Camel, I have XP Home. I looked in the programme files but cant find the one you put in your post. I have Adaware and scan weekly, It picks up low level risk stuff mainly which I get rid of as a matter of course. How would I know if I have a Virus on my system? I don't fancy taking the laptop to PC dimwits (world) for a health check as a mate of mine had a really bad experience with them. Any other ideas? Camel_Landy Posted September 16, 2003 Posted September 16, 2003 Make sure you've installed all the patches that are linked to off this page as these will help protect you from the latest round of worms/viruses. You might also find that your ISP is having problems as the current viruses are slowing things down a lot! HTH Mark. Quote
minghis Posted September 16, 2003 Posted September 16, 2003 McAfee have a simple thing called a stinger that will check your pc for all the common virus/worm/trojan type stuff. Go here Stinger HTH Quote
chazpowerslide Posted September 16, 2003 Author Posted September 16, 2003 Thanks, I'll have a look at these tonight. Email is now back up and running. Quote
