Rob Navin Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 Avoid the 9-3, they are rubbish to drive. Dull doesn't even come close to describing it. Have to disagree with you there mate. PW's 9-3 2lt low pressure trubo is a great thisg to drive. Lots of fun and by no means dull or slow...... I'm just trying to get him to lend it me for a track day before it goes back Quote
Arm Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 RAV 4 is good at towing. Just dont expect to get anywhere quick ! Quote
Ian Podmore Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 Rob, I must have driven a different version. Have they sorted that stupid handbrake lever yet? Everyone who drove the demo car here squashed their thumb on the end. Have you managed to get your order in yet for one of the last Zetec engines before you miss the boat? Quote
BEN99W Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 Id have to give the 9-3 Diesel another vote too. bl**** comfy seats, and for a diesel it has a good spread of power and well spaced gear ratios. It does handle pretty well too - surprisingly neutral. (a big improvement on older saabs). I also prefer the cabin architecture to the veedubs too. I consider it a better car than the Passat diesel. Well worth a try. 1 series is the most fun car on your list, but if you have to use its rear seats or boot, then its the least practical - seats are only really suitable for kids. Quote
chrisbin Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 The 9-3 has a new diesel now too......s'posed to be a bit quick.........for a diesel.. Quote
Rob Navin Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 Ian. I tried to get hold of a good Zetec. Aparently Ford don't make one though so I will be stopping X-flow Have a good Xmas. Quote

Blatman Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 I think we should agree to agree on January 1st or 2nd 2005 so that we get it out of the way early and get back to the arguing and name calling... Quote
Rob Navin Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 Can't agree with either of those dates Just because Quote
cidersurfer Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 Would they consider one of these? I've got the new Mondeo 130PS Ghia, if you need to go faster on public roads good luck to you. As a comprimise it's a great car, good kit, excellent handling (remember the Top Gear track), superb torque and it's averaged 46.6mpg over 8,000 miles in 2 months. My last one did 115,000 miles in 3 years and NOTHING broke. Quote

Haven't laughed that much for ages. My sides have split open. Have a good break etc. I'll report back on my fastest Scalextric lap times after the break. Quote
david.c Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 If it doesn't have to be practical, but must have 4 seats, and someone else is picking up the running costs...........Mazda RX8 My brothers got one and its a fun motor..........five figure rev limit anyone? David Quote
