smegablade Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Ok Chaps I need your help to make a decision. Starting a new job on Jan 4th and need to decide what company car. Daily commute will be about an hour each way cross country and odd trips out to see customers but no vast distances. SWMBO has a company Passat so it doesn't have to be a practical family car. Restrictions are that it has to have four seats (Can't be a Westfield then) and no bull bars (?) Shortlist so far Audi A3 Sportback BMW 1 Series 118d VW Golf 2.0 GT TDi Toyota Rav 4 Ford Ranger Thunder Pick Up Currently driving a Golf TDi 130, which has been a great car and sadly missed when I have to sell it. Your input most appreciated Cheers Ian Quote
thos Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Another Golf TDI 130 driver here, I've got my eye on the A3 Sportback alright, a nice yolk. Quote
samcooke Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 *Very* nearly took a company car rather than the dosh after driving a 120d. But thankfully came to my senses and realised all diesels are rubbish if you like a good blat. Still, if you must have one the BMW is a proper car to drive. I test drove it on a cold, greasy morning and it's *ahem* 'exploitable'. One of our work cars is a Mk4 Golf Tdi 150 and it can't put the power down in 3rd in the wet. Very frustrating. Audi looks nicer than the BMW tho. Just don't get the Toyota. Quote
MARSDALEBEAR Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Would they consider one of these? Driver and passenger 2-way heated front seats what the devil are these? How many ways are there to heat a seat? Quote
smegablade Posted December 22, 2004 Author Posted December 22, 2004 Just remembered the Saab 93 diesel is in the running as well Quote
Fat Albert Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Saab is a Vectra in a party frock (victorian) If your budget can take it and you can stand the way it looks the BMW 120d is 2s faster than than the Golf/Audi round Pembrey If God had meant cars to be driven by the front wheels he'd never of given us se7ens Quote

Chris Elworthy Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 If you have the option, opt out and keep the Golf, quids in. Quote
Ian Podmore Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 Avoid the 9-3, they are rubbish to drive. Dull doesn't even come close to describing it. Quote
