whenever i open excel it stays open for approx 5 seconds then disappears. Reopen and same thing happens.

I need to do my tax return  

any super geeks out there with any ideas???

Have you checked the event viewer to see if anything was logged?

excel closes immediately after opening

if it doesn't, you could try describing the fault and searching the support site above.

Also have seen strange things like this when Outlook has been activated instead of Outlook Express.

Is the worksheet linked to any word docs?
