deano.1 Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 Im not a complete novice but i cant work out what ive done with this one! Problem - I cant see a lot of pictures/avatars etc, i assume it is something to do with my firewall (zone alarm) but have tried a few different settings with no effect Can anyone help please? Quote
Bob Green Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 I had to turn my cookie (what ever the hell that is) control right down to receive pictures and avatars. Some people on here said that would not make a difference but it did for me. The cookie control is in "Privacy". If that doesn't work, turn it back on and I stand corrected. HTH Quote
deano.1 Posted December 9, 2004 Author Posted December 9, 2004 Just tried that, didnt make any difference - Cheers Bob Quote
Frau Vesty Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 If I right click on one of the avatars, it gives me an option "block images from ..." You haven't accidentally clicked this somehow so blocked access to all those hosted by gently hosting have you? Don't know how to unblock though, presumably if you right click on one of the gently hosting avatars, the option will change to "allow" if you have accidentally blocked it. I'm not about to test this theory out just in case it's not, though Edit: I just found a thread on problems seeing avatars through zonealarm here May be something of help there Quote
deano.1 Posted December 9, 2004 Author Posted December 9, 2004 Thanks for that but its not that as i can see some avatars and some of the pics that are posted on the board but most of them i cant! Works perfick on the laptop so if someone posts a pic i want to look at i have to boot laptop up (bit of a pain in ass) I cant even see my own avatar!!! Quote
Bob Green Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 Just tried mine again...... cookies on, no avatars , cookies off... avatars Andy may be along in a minute to help out. Quote
adhawkins Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 It's a firewall thing, almost certainly. Right click on an image you can see and click Properties. The URL probably won't be on avatars.gentlyhosting.co.uk. Do the same with one you can't see, and it'll be on avatars.gentlyhosting.co.uk. Read all of the thread in my sig for advice on fixing it.
