scott beeland Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 Looking to upgrade to covered trailer and found this covered trailer. Don't know it's weight yet; but do you reckon a TDXantia will tow it? And from what you can see is it ok money? Ta. Quote
P W Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 Morning Scott - worthwhile asking about recent new parts eg brakes - if they need replacing lines / drums etc can cost a bob or two !! other obvious one - does everything work as it should ? Quote
scott beeland Posted December 8, 2004 Author Posted December 8, 2004 I've mailed him to get some more details and perhaps go and have a look. All I do know is it's had a new tow hitch Quote
studbuckle Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 is the xantia suspension of sogginess up to the weight of that? I'd have thought it was touch and go Quote
I.S.M Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 plus, its not very tall, it is a hassle to get in and out of the car whilst in the trailer............ Quote
Bananaman Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 Looks Huge to me Scott, it's gotta weigh @ least 700kg + car + spare tyres etc............ 1300kg+ I'd have thought the Xantia would struggle with this kinda weight. Andy P.S. I don't think you'd get that in the garage... Quote
Rob Navin Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 Scott mine may be for sale in the new year IF a few plans come to fruission if that of intrest ? Quote
Toby Mack Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 according to this the max towing weight of a td xantia is 1200kg. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 Scott That (I'm sure of it) is Steve Robinsons old trailer thats had a coat of black paint and a new rear door In which case your Xantai would struggle BIG time Everything and spec looks exackerlee the same Why not get a frame and tarpaulin made for your current trailer Quote
Yobbo Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 A few people have been caught out re large trailers recently as the legislation changed a few years ago and not many noticed, and it now makes it not as easy as it was to tow a trailer over 750kg all up weight (including load) if you passed your test after 1st January 1997. If you want to tow more than this and have a post 1997 licence then you may need to take another test or select your car and trailer carefully. Your licence will say just class B whereas prior to 1997 it would say B+E. The DVLA website is useful re the exact rules. Here Quote
simon4007 Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 I called about this trailer just a couple of days ago.... sorry to have to tell you it sold some time ago. Keep an eye on ebay too, one or two race trailers turn up there each week, please don't bid against me though.... my need is much greater - I don't even have a trailer yet!!! Quote
Rob Navin Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 Simon. You could buy Scotts and he could by my nice covered one Quote
I.S.M Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 Mark Not sure your right, dads old one rasied middle section. But for whats it worth, always get the lightest trailer you can, single axle ones are ideal for small paddocks etc as they can be manoevered (sp?) really easy. Quote
simon4007 Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 Rob, If your serious about flogging your covered trailer please let me know the details (better still send some photos to simon4007@hotmail.com). I bought one of Stewart Linns old motors and need a trailer ASAP!! I plan to join the BARC westfield championship next year. (ARDS on the 18th - wish me luck)! Cheers Simon Quote
