Lins Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 If you don't get anywhere with the Uni - you could always kick up a stink in the local paper most organisations hate bad press. Lins (Computer Science Degree - hence I can't spell :-) Quote
the bear Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 Drive nice and slowly up to and around them draw level and then a good squirt on the windscreen washer and a bit of a wipe and you've got one damper stain on the fabric of society (oops Sorry Student and future MP) To intentionally misquote The Who (I think) I hope I die before they get old enough to run the fuggin country!!!!! Mark Stanton Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 If some of the parents had given their student kiddies a "clip round the ear" or allowed corporal punishment at schools perhaps some of these idiots would have a better appreciation of right and wrong combined with courtesy and good manners Quote
Pepi Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 How about dipping the clutch when approaching one from behind and just as you pass him floor it and drop the clutch at the same time.......all the more effective if you have your sidepipe the right side And even more effective if you can tease a nice flame out of it as you pass Quote
Nemo Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 Trouble these days is everyone seems to have rights, but conveniently have forgotten the responsibilities that should go with them Starting with the polititians at the top and working downwards. you could always run down Blunkett and say he didn't see you. Blatman Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 A letter to the uni or the council could be in order but it may be just p******** in the wind. All depends on how you phrase the letter. My posting on page 1 was carefully constructed to use certain key phrases that will get the attention of the local officials. Remember to CC the Board of Governers, the local Chief Super and your local MP. If you're clever, rather than send the letters to the offices of these people, send them to their home addresses. That shows them that they are dealing with a person of above average intelligence who knows where they live... Some of the shortest "customer service" issues I've ever had have been resolved to my complete satisfaction when the letter of complaint has arrived at the Directors home address with the CC going to the homes of other board members and the local paper. You've gotta love Companies House.... Quote

Howard Posted December 7, 2004 Author Posted December 7, 2004 You've gotta love Companies House... Funny you should mention that... As it happens, I'm a neighbour and friend of the Leader of the Borough Council and we are also co-Directors of a small concern. I could use a number of contacts to advantage. However, really, my original post was just to let off steam and spark a little discussion. I probably won't do anything about it. It's not that big a deal. Even if I did highlight the issue locally the likelihood of it having an effect on the people who deliberately walk in the road is, I still think, minimal. I'll adopt James May's (Top Gear) Christian approach to motoring. "It's all about forgiveness" H Quote
JonnyBoy Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 What degree did you do? i agree with what your saying 100%, however if unis stand a chance of surviving they have to offer these courses, as profit driven unis (mainly polytechnics) offer stupid degrees to anyone willing to pay - hey cant fault them, better than getting job, regardless of their prospects. like **** studies! replace *** with any word, and you still have a pointless degree! Loughborough is a small town with a large university - something like 10,000 students - so it is quite noticeable. A letter to the uni or the council could be in order but it may be just p******** in the wind. Loughborough is a university town.. theres hardly anything but university. There was a huge issue with destructive students at loughborough and the uni took action. promising to remove any student seen to cause any damage to personal property in the town. Students used to jump cars, knock wing mirrors off etc. It seemed to work to some degree. I believe the uni put the police under pressure as well to help resolve the situation. So, writing to the uni/college theoretically works Quote
