scott beeland Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 We pick up a Mitsubishi Colt on Tuesday to replace the crappy horrible micra. Quote
Impney Posted December 4, 2004 Posted December 4, 2004 The Vauxhall is bad choice. Don't do it. Driving out of thr showroom will cost you dearly let alone when you come to sell it on. In the Combo ( Corsa Van) the 1.7D is fun. Mind you they are better than Citroen. The Yaris may be common and unexciting, but it won't let you down. Your neighbours know what they are doing. Fiesta - better than the Vauxhall and Fiesta's are easy to sell. Pity you don't want a Fabia as that is IMHO one of the best Superminis at the moment. Quote
Major Stare Posted December 4, 2004 Posted December 4, 2004 The Fiat panda doesn't share the DCi engine with the Micra.Renault Clio and the Micra share the DCi engine. Fiat share their 1.3 diesel engine with the Vauxhall Corsa. The Fiat Panda Diesel isnt available in the UK yet, it will be using the same 1.3 Multijet engine as the Punto...........which Vauxhall now use (its a Fiat engine). The 4x4 Panda has been voted the best sub £10,000 4x4 you can buy Quote
hilux Posted December 4, 2004 Posted December 4, 2004 Minis also come in Derv buners too Wifey wanted a new cooper but was worried re running costs so she bought a kitted out spoilered, discs all round, 16"alloys etc Mini One diesel 1.4 (Toyota Yaris engine) Superb, not the quickest but holds its own on roads and motorways, uses the 6 speed box so you can keep it in the power band, 48mpg and of course it handles and stops like a cooper and its got the resale of a mini I like it anyway Quote
itguy Posted December 4, 2004 Posted December 4, 2004 Another vote here for the MiniOneD Its probably my most favourate mini engine barr the cooper S 1.6supercharged. FAR better suited to the car than the lazy nasty standard 1.6 engine (my wife has a standard cooper). Must say though, have just driven one of the facelift coopers yesterday and the new getrag gearbox (5 speed for the cooper) makes a whole load of difference, improved ratios and makes the engine appear to rev a bit more freely. A friend has the OneD and loves it - Will. Quote

The free servicing isnt worth the paper its written on. Keep an eye on disks as these are made of mash potato and seem to dissintegrate very quick. They dont take the wheels off until the 4 yr service so if you get a flat after 3 yrs you probably wont get the wheels off cos the studs have rusted Quote
