neilwillis Posted December 1, 2004 Posted December 1, 2004 After the tragic fire last year, the museum has re-opened it's doors today, and has about 650 machines on show. The damage done at the time was so bad it looked unlikely it would ever re-open, but they are now restoring the machines at a rate of about 1 a month. The buildings have been enlarged, and inside the museum will look identical to the original displays, but they have bigger, better conference facilities. Good news or what! Quote
peterg Posted December 1, 2004 Posted December 1, 2004 Excellent news, I will have to try and get in there after visiting the Autosport Show...... Quote
Al Yupright Posted December 1, 2004 Posted December 1, 2004 but they have bigger, better conference facilities. Isnt this where the fire started! Quote
neilwillis Posted December 1, 2004 Author Posted December 1, 2004 Apparently it was a discarded cigarette - I bet they don't tolerate smoking there any longer! Quote
nlash Posted December 1, 2004 Posted December 1, 2004 Have sprinklers been fitted now? The reason they weren't fitted when the building was built the first time around was due to the fear that accidental discharge (ooops) would ruin the exhibits... Oh isn't hindsight wonderful? Quote
Enterpryse Posted December 1, 2004 Posted December 1, 2004 Excellent news and welldone that man for making it happen ! Quote
Martin Keene Posted December 2, 2004 Posted December 2, 2004 Very Good News... Hearing that it had burnt down made me kinda sad that I hadn't been for so long. Maybe time for another visit! Edited to correct some shocking typing... Quote
