Whch Insurance Company

Hi I have just bought a westfielf sei this weekend, I am going to pick it up on wednesday and need some insurance. I have the mags etc so will start tomorrow crawling through he ads, can anyone please save me some time and point me at some competitive and good insurance companies. Its only a cross flow and I'm 35 with 12+ years no claims (in use on other car) so I should be able to get a good deal somewhere.

Is there any tips, things I should mention, limited mileage, wife on or not etc which will help me get it cheaper??

I have printed off the membership form and it will be in the post tomorrow, would I get cheaper insurance once I am a member? if so do they need a membership no?

I can't wait too long, itching to pick it up and catch the last dry days of the year.

Thank for any advice in advance, if I've posted this in the wrong place I'm sorry please let me know.

It shouldnt be more than a few hundred quid (tops, depending on where you live).  Try a search, this has been covered a lot

Also try here msn (dave spragg) come highly reccomended by blatters and he knows a lot :0

Way way way to slow on that one....

oh and welcome

Yup. MSN have my business. Not always the cheapest, but normally there or thereabouts.

HOWEVER, if/when you have cause to "use" the insurance, Dave and his company are easily the best there is, so it's worth the extra expense...

Not looking too bad so far, I've had a few initial qoutes but not gone back to any of them to start bartering yet.

These are all based on fully comp, sdp&c, 3k / year, £100 excess and inc legal and tax. Question is is their anyone I should stay clear of??

Sure Term  £241.48

KG Motor / Graham Sykes £148.31

Chaucer / Graham Sykes £195.98

MSM £201.00

www.GreenLightInsurance £193.52

www.kitcarinsurance £180.64

:bangshead:

Any advice greatfully received

Andy

P.s. This value they all ask 4, I got mine as part of a deal and bargained hard, I'm sure its worth more than I've got in it but how do you know and what do you actually get if its stolen / written off?????

MSM were great when I had to make a claim although as blatters says not always the cheapest.....

I was surprised however when I asked how much the extra insurance would be on the turbo upgrade.....  £25 quid for the year   :t-up:   I cant complain at that

When asked, I always say that Adrian Flux and Co are worth avoiding, no matter how cheap they are. Plenty will agree, and plenty will disagree, but mark my words, that fact that they have *plenty* of negative feedback in such a small market place should speak for itself...

Thanks for that, its looking like msm then for the sake of £30 Adrian Flux never got back to me anyway.

What about the value? I'm just guessing + a little bit, i've seen them sell for more, i've seen them sell for less, if something bad does happen do you get paid that value or is it assesed at the time?

Just to add more fuel........

My Hill House Hammond policy last year was £227.00, as we all know Norwich Union have taken over now. They quoted me £722.00, so I explained over the phone what it was last year and they stated show us HHH premium and prove no claims etc. and their review.

So I did in writing to head office, I have not had a reply, 14 days elapsed and noticed the policy has now expired. So I rang them today, they said, if it is under review all I can do is pay the £722.00 and if they feel it's overcharged, they would refund the difference in the near future.

So obviously I told them to shove it up their A***, to which they said hairy muff

So who's got MSN contact number then  ???

Very helpful when I had to brake suddenly and the bodywork in the back of the van got broke.  Ditto the comments about not the cheapest, but good service.  They also offer breakdown cover if you don't have any, just in case.

can vouch for FJ.

For the same policy options that you mentioned, my premium would have been £181, but due to my accident this year the renewal just crept over £200.

As for value, don't undersell yourself, but bear in mind not all policies are agreed value so an insurance assessor would check the market rate at the time of any claim. Ignore what you paid (as you sound like you got a bit of a bargain) and check what a similarly specced car is up for in the classified ... Which Kit, KitCar, Autotrader, Findit etc

Oh and welcome to the ranks :D

Cheers

I'm surprised Sureterm are quoting you so much.  I'm also 35 and have just renewed my 87 SE Xflow, Fully Comp, 1.5K miles (I have 2 other cars), SDP&C, for £96.  I do live in Suffolk which is a low crime area, which of course helps a bit.  Never had to claim so no comment on their service.
