Barry Ashcroft Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 I was interested in an engine for sale on ebay so I mailed the guy for details he is a new user just registered in france but said the item is in the uk. He is very cagey about the items location and all he seems interested is ebay payment protection which so say gived me the buyer 30 days to recover all my money if not satisfied. his ad then dissapears from ebay and then appears 3 times with dirrerent user names in different countrys.I have asked him if he has the engine for me to view and all he keeps going on about is the protection yeh mate FRO. Hello Barry, I listed the auctions on a new account I recently created for business purposes, but mainly because I intend to use eBay for advertising. They said my listings were closed and my new account suspended for 30 days because eBay learned I don't have all the items in stock and this would violate eBay rules; this is quite true, because we are dealers of quite a few manufacturers and often we ship directly from them to our customers to reduce final prices. I bet someone out there didn't like our low prices. I'm trying to use ebay as an advertising source and that all my competitors dont like my low prices. So they do everything they can to get me suspended. Even by turning me in for minor violations of the rules which i did not know existed. Anyway they let me to make a new account for the business purposes. So we can still do business under the ebay protection if you want. For payment we prefer eBay insured payments. We need a safe way to conduct this transaction. eBay offers purchase protection plans for these situations. They will decide how you pay me so you can be insured for the entire value of this purchase. In case you don't get what you are paying for, you get a full refund from eBay. *** IF YOU WANT TO USE PURCHASE PROTECTION UNDER EBAY, LET ME KNOW YOUR FULL NAME AND SHIPPING DETAILS NOW. I will contact eBay and they will get back to us when the needed verifications are done and you got the purchase protection. This may take a few hours, so please be patient. You will be able to verify the validity of your purchase protection after you have qualified for it. They will give us a transaction number. Please keep it safe. Should a refund is needed, you email them the payment proof and the transaction number in order to get your money back. -- Best regards, Sales AntiQuessellUK mailto:sales@antiquesselluk.com Phone 00447766702832 Sunday, November 28, 2004, 11:52:32 AM, you wrote: > Your web address does not work also your ad was removed by ebay then > it has reappeared with different user names registered in different > country's can you explain this do you have this product can I see it > or is this just a scam? hilux Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 One of the disturbing aspects of this is that apparently they were/are able to `steal` feedback If this is true and it is possible to `steal` feedback then I now wonder if I should trust anyone on e-bay Quote
Nick A Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 Slightly off topic but just (tried) purchased something from a seller on ebay who lives about 3 miles away from me, won the auction and tried to collect the item (nothing to say i couldn't in the add) but the seller will not let me have the item unless i pay the postage which is three times what it should be ? I just don't see the point if paying postage on the item when it's not a problem to pop round and pick it up ? still waiting for a reply from ebay to find out where i stand on this one Quote
Barry Ashcroft Posted November 28, 2004 Author Posted November 28, 2004 I bought something on ebay seller said first class postage at £4 he then sent item second class casting £1.30 got him to refund difference not worried about the money just dont like being taken for a mug. Alot of sellers just use the postage to push up there profit. Barry Quote
jonlewis Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 The postage "issue" is not limited to Ebay... Most Internet suppliers, such as Amazon, would logically be classed as logistics companies. The only margin they make is from postage ! Quote
