GWatson Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 The company I work for own 10 vessels, mainly used for pipe laying, diving and ROV work. I guess it's the same environment as a rig, although on\off rota tends to be 6 weeks rather than two, the good side is a few of the vessels are in Brazil, Aussie etc, but most in the North Sea. Hope you're not prone to sea sickness, like me Thankfully working in IT I only go off now and again, usually when things go pear shaped. Our Company employ a lot of the offshore people through Northern Marine, most of the technicians in fact. May be worth a call to them. I don't have access to job vacancies offshore, but I can certainly submit your CV to our Offshore HR dept. PM me if interested. Company Website Good luck with the offshore survial, think mine is due for re-newal in Feb 05, not looking forward to it.... Graeme Quote

GWatson Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 not sure why that isn't working, keeps on prefixing it with boardroom... bla bla bla, anyway www.technip.com It's just not the most enjoyable experiance, some of it is really good like the hands on fire fighting, I really enjoyed that, but trying to escape from an fully submerged upside down helicopter with not breathing apparatis? in a pool isn't.... Here is who I did my training with http://www.rgitmontrose.com/course-20020206-143120.html Quote

Steve Kirk Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 Evenin paul For your offshore sea survival course you could do worse than try HOTA across the bridge in Hull. They do the budgie dunker course and everything else you need .However i tried and better tried, to go offshore when i left the Navy in 96 and found lots of very qualified people chasing few jobs. Best of luck Steve Quote

Westfieldman Posted November 26, 2004 Author Posted November 26, 2004 For your offshore sea survival course you could do worse than try HOTA £499 + vat for a 3 day coarse plus an Offshore medical Quote

samcooke Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 My brother in law did some IT rubbish on an oil rig and had to do loads of really exciting training like running through burning rooms and jumping off high stuff. Worth it for that alone. Quote
