try the peugeot gti club www.peugeot-gti.net.  I'm member on (kik106rallye) with my 106 rallye.  They have a good for sale section on the web site.

Also try the peugeot sport club, not sure what the adress is though.

so, its been sat for 8 months....

potentially 700-800 quid for the car

passed its mot in may, did 500miles and has been stored outside since.

discs are rusty, drums are probably rusty too then. potentially seized - not sure how easy it would be to free up the brakes!!

what else suffers after 8 months standing outside?

thing is, its a 2 owner car, 80000miles.

worth a 4hr trip for looking at, or does it spell disaster?

answers on the back of a postcard please

I think you'll have to expect to do some work on any car of that age especially one which will have been driven 'enthusiastically' most of it's life. New brake discs and pads (1.9 has discs at the rear) would be a good idea anyway. If the engine runs OK, the oil is clean (a good indication of how it's been treated) and the body is sound offer £500 and take it away.

If they are all like the example I test drove they've all probably gone through hedges backwards.I thought at the time that it felt quite planted on the road and steadily increased my trust in it  'til it decided that it was going to bite back and suddenly let go.Nearly took the nose off on one hedge and the ass end on the other.Good job there was nothing else around at the time.Actually preferred my Cav  GSI I had at the time anyway so no great loss really.

80,000 genuine miles, all MOTs. Lots of history, servicing etc. I have original log book, etc .5 Unmarked alloys. 1 previous owner (my mum). Car had 4 new tyres, discs, pads, brake lines on last service

i wonder how hard mum drove it ;)

They're famous for spinning out if you lift mid-corner... you do have to be pressing on but they will let go.

Had both 1600 & 1900 GTI's, the 1900 was the best Tin Top i've ever had, No question about it

Even in the Wet with the standard Michelins  :0

Have to agree had both 1.6 & 1.9 handling and braking beyond anything (but westy of course) that have driven since.

They do bite on the very limit though, spun mine in the wet (standing water) wasn`t lifting off but the car gave a understeer/oversteer shimmy just to let me know first   :D  :D

Only downside, french engineering, at 14 years old      it`ll be hard to find agood un :bangshead:  :bangshead: .

Oh and look for shell fatigue, a crack runing from the top far corner of the door opening to the badge area ISTR.

Mine was showing by the time it went, don`t know how much concern it should be but it made me think.

Damn fine car if you get a good un though

:D  :D  :D  :D

Try here my good man they are 205 specialists and apparently restore the cars back to original just depends on how much of the folding stuff you have

Just GTI's

not ken on paying a 100- 150 percent premium on a car, that defeats the point of buying a car to not loose any value.

I saw a private 1600, one owner 60000 miles car in london. sold for 1000 the day before i got home from canada. I'd expect to see that car on just gti's fror 2-2.5k.

i'm sure they are very good, or they wouldnt still be in business - thanks for the link though.
