fiddich Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Woah, £12k? No offence chap, but there was a superb spec 215bhp XE engine'd Westie for sale in a kit car magazine last month for just under £9k...2 years newer, same wheels...not sure about the rest though to be honest. Is summer almost here already?
Terry Everall Posted November 26, 2004 Author Posted November 26, 2004 Looks like the engine and box will be for sale. When comparing cars you have to know what the bits cost to buy and which cars have go faster bits rather than just looking nice.
Rob Navin Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Terry I have to agree with you 100%. It's a lot cheaper to make a car look nice than go fast, but then it takes all sorts.
fiddich Posted November 27, 2004 Posted November 27, 2004 Looks like the engine and box will be for sale. When comparing cars you have to know what the bits cost to buy and which cars have go faster bits rather than just looking nice. I know, but £12k does seem an awful lot for a '96, regardless of specification. For comparison, the one I was looking at previously was a 2l QED XE, Terry Nightingale fully adjustable suspension, OZ Superleggeras with Yoko tyres...so it shouldn't be too slow. It may just be that that one was a bargain, and yours is more realistically priced, and obviously the price you sell it for is up to you...I'll stop stealing your thread now...
Mark Stanton Posted November 27, 2004 Posted November 27, 2004 The thing is with Terry's car and other's like it, Mr Fiddich is that the engine, suspension and everything is all reliabubble, properly set-up, prepped ready to go very quickly - far more money and time has been invested into the development - all these kind of cars and not just Terry's have their value - although a 1996 "car" - you'll find that most of it is much newer and kept in fine fettle It's always gonna be difficult when selling a "competition" car in trying to compare prices to that of the very well built road car Tis somewhat of an even more specialist market than ever The cost of competition components used is often more
fiddich Posted November 27, 2004 Posted November 27, 2004 Yup, just annoyed I can't afford it really!
Terry Everall Posted November 29, 2004 Author Posted November 29, 2004 watch the for sale section as I am going to sell the engine, throttle bodies, Sump , flywheel, and gearbox as separate items which maybe somebody can afford. If anyone wants first pick ring me 07767836234
simple Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 Fiddich for what it's worth I actually went to see the car you're talking about before I bought mine. I think it was realistically priced given the fact that it looked very tired and neglected. Plus it is a narrow bodied car which is a little less popular IMO. FWIW I paid 10.5k for a 2001 wide car with a 2.0l vx engine @210bhp ish. The remaining spec on the car wasn't what I wanted but I figured that it's cheaper to by the stuff I wanted than to get a standard vx lump upgraded. If terry's car had been available when I was looking I would have bitten his hand off for it.
Bananaman Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 Forget about the age!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look at what bit's the cars made up of & it's condition..... 230bhpVX on TB's Quaiffe PRO box AVO's Widetrack ARB's etc.............. While the car might be what we would class as a BARGAIN it's certainly VERY good value for money & would be a shame to break it... All the ight bit's & well set up, you could quite easily spend £9-10K on a car & have to spens another £4K to get it to this kinda standard..
Jan Coombes Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 Forget about the age!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look at what bit's the cars made up of & it's condition..... I agree £12,000 sounds about the right sort of price to me. Good luck.
