johnxt Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 Hy My Westfield is running with an Ford Zetec engine with an cat converter, and now the exhaut is fixed under the car On the Westfield Website (Parts store) they offer an complete exhaut system with cat converter Where is the cat converter fixed? Is he fixed inside the silencer? Maybe anybody have an better solution ( Exhaut system with cat converter for Zetec engine) Thanks Regards John Quote
deano.1 Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 1. Yes the cat is inside the silencer 2. If your car is an ametuer built car you may not need a cat for mot, What does it say on your v5? Quote
Saltydog!! Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 John I previously had an 1800 Zetec with underslung exhaust (std factory build at the time - 1999). The CAT on this system IIRC was a seperate unit mounted in the engine bay as the exhaust looped around the front of the engine. The side exit exhaust has the CAT mounted in the silencer if you choose/need that option. HTH SD Quote
johnxt Posted November 15, 2004 Author Posted November 15, 2004 Hy thanks for your statments Can anybody tell me anything about the exhaust system from Raceline http://www.raceline.co.uk/ Is this one better quality then those from Westfield? What makes the diffrence? Thanks a lot Regards John Quote
deano.1 Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 I believe the raceline one is re packable and is less restrictive than the W/F one. Have a look at steppenwolfs site he fitted a raceline system! Quote
thos Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 I've got a Raceline system with a cat in the silencer, not repackable though. Quote
chappers Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 I changed my standard side exit 2001 Westfield 1800 zetec exhaust for a Raceline jobby with a Cat in the silencer. Cost about a £1000 pounds for silencer/CAT and manifold (£675 exhaust, £250 CAT, plus gasket plus VAT). My version is non-repackable which I didn't know they did, as I was thinking it would look like Steppenwolf's can. My can just looks like a standard car silencer, just bigger and stainless steel. If I had known I would have paid the extra £150 for the repackable version. The Raceline can with cat is also heavier than the standard Westfield cat silencer (which I have cluttering up my shed - £70??), but the whole Raceline system looks very nice. The Raceline version does look good though and is also quieter. Can send some photos of the non-repackable silencer later if you want, if you let me know your e-mail address. Cheers Kev. Quote
Bananaman Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Why not buy a repackable silencer & put the cat back on for MOT's Quote
Mark B Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 I took my standard westfield exhaust with built in cat off this summer & fitted a repackable one with no cat, mot'd it 3 months back, no problem, visual smoke test only. Mines a zetec, built from all new parts on a T plate, I'd fit a standard repackable one with no cat if I were you, it runs better, feels free'er and weighs abit less. hth, Mark. Quote
