Neil H Posted October 31, 2004 Posted October 31, 2004 All. Hopefully everyone at the previous October Thames Valley meet would have seen a printed list of event suggestions covering all different seasons\weather conditions. I've put the list onto the TV web site at the below url and added to it additional suggestions some of you came up with. Thames Valley Events Diary Have also updated the Events Calendar with some 2005 entries and fixtures for those annual events we attend by default each year such as Stoneleigh, Hambleden etc. Will shortly start to plan some of the other event suggestions and put some dates to them after understanding who's interested in what, and when. So if you're interested in any of them let me know so I can progress the more popular choices. Maybe one or two factory visits would be wise given the time of year and weather? NOTE: Allow a day or two from the date of this e-mail for the website changes to replicate to the www.wscc.co.uk server; if not up by then substitute the url for www2.wscc.co.uk... Also note the web pages will undergo far more changes shortly. Cheers, Neil Quote
shaun Posted November 1, 2004 Posted November 1, 2004 You have been busy So nice to sit back and let somebody else do the work Some good events there Neil. I'll help to organise Le Mans next year for those that are interested. Hopefully we'll be able to link up with Northants area on a few events to increase numbers. NICE WORK NEIL - looking forward to Xmas lunch Still owe you £10 so will drop this into you on Saturday. Quote
shaun Posted November 1, 2004 Posted November 1, 2004 I'm amazed to see that my 140mph Avatar still works Neil - when do I have to change the address?? Quote
Neil H Posted November 1, 2004 Author Posted November 1, 2004 Hi. Shaun. Opps. Forgot about checking to see when\if my changes migrated to the live www server. Seems like it's all there :-) Most of the changes to the site are really unseen and simply a reorganising of the files, folders and links - with some minor navigation changes. This will now make it easier for me to REALLY produce a new site. Hopefully it will be ready soon so effort can go into arranging events and documenting them on the site. May look into a possible ProDrive factory visit in Banbury - as this weather would suit that sort of event. You've paid your dues after doing the AO for a few years, you can now kick-back ;-) Your old avatar has been left in it's previous location for the moment and a copy simply placed at the new url below. Either will\should work. Once everyone changes to their new avatar's url I can then delete the old images. Follow the below url, your file is now there and changing your avatar location should work - give it a try. Let me know either way. Shaun's Avatar Regarding new events calendar: yes, we'll certainly have to do joint events - that's why I've place you and Dave Muttock in my mail distribution so we can see and exchange each others ideas. Would be good if someone organised Le Mans for me, simply as organising it for others whilst not able to go yourself is torture! Unless of course I should miraculously get a paid job and actually go to Le Mans myself ;-) Xmas lunch is coming along nicely. 23 people said they're coming, 10 deposits received, the remainder promise me theirs. Any chance of popping yours in the post to me and getting Colin and Nat to do the same? I want to take them all in a batch on our lads Friday night pub visit this week if possible. Cheers for now, Neil Quote
shaun Posted November 1, 2004 Posted November 1, 2004 Have updated avatar URL and all works fine Quote
Chris Elworthy Posted November 1, 2004 Posted November 1, 2004 May look into a possible ProDrive factory visit in Banbury - as this weather would suit that sort of event. As I work in Banbury (allegedly) I investigated this a couple of years back. They do arrange tours but if I remember correctly they wanted around £30 per head (all for charity mate). Also tried Hook Norton brewery just down the road from Banbury, who did free tours but only during weekday working hours. I hope you have better luck. Quote
Neil H Posted November 2, 2004 Author Posted November 2, 2004 Chris. Cheers for info on Prodrive; £30 sounds a bit steep - of course depending on what they lay on. I'll approach them anyway and see if anything else can be had. Did you get much support from members for a brewery trip? I thought about suggesting one. Done a few with people at work, but it's easier to coordinate when you can all get out the very same office at the same time in 2-3 taxis - a doddle. Imagine it's a bit different with peole scattered all over the county! Quote
Thrustyjust Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 neil, glad you're at home on the P.C and not out spending my money,Justin Quote
Neil H Posted November 3, 2004 Author Posted November 3, 2004 Justin. Just squeezing some surfing in after a day revising for job interview Thursday. If I get a job offer then I'll be using your overpayment to but a few celebration drinks with the lads at the pub Friday night ;-) Cheers, Neil Quote
