Bananaman Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 How do you stop your computer storing internet history / deleat existing histroy Windows XP............. Quote
adhawkins Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 Caught browsing dodgy pr0n sites again Andy? Tools -> Internet options. There's a 'Clear History' button, and a number of days to keep history. There might even be an option under 'Advanced' to tell it not to keep anything. Andy Quote
RobHaines Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 Click on the Tools menu and goto Internet Options there should be an option on there to delete temporary internet files. Not sure how you stop storing the history. You could try TweakUI, it has paranoia settings that allow you to delete the history when you log in and out. TweakUI Edited to add: Bowing to superior knowledge you can also set it in the advanced tab without TweakUI Quote

RobHaines Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 Worked for me. There seems to be different versions though so make sure you get the right one. The link I found was to the XP version. Quote

Leon B Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 Yea you can delete them but any stored passwords etc will be deleted. Quote
Gromit Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 For confidential deletion of IE history log you cant IMHO beat Historykill 2003. Not only does it delete IE history but can also be set to autodelete any files in trashcan and loads of other options. It not only deletes these log files but activly overwrites them up to 21 times making recovering the files impossible. Department of Defence specifies a 7 times overwrite to make files unrecoverable. This is a good program to use for lots of other reasons other than covering up what naughty websites you`ve been peeking at, as confidential buisness data can be safely destroyed with it. Quote
waynem Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 Also useful to go into tools->options->content->autocomplete->clear forms to remove things like previous searches from google etc.. Wayne M Quote
