scott beeland Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 what a tour This definitely look like one for the future Quote
Nick M Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 Ding. I'd even consider planning something like that for a group of Westfields, etc. - sort of a coast to coast running from the Normandy coast to the Med ?? Nothing manic, just a fun drive down there and back spread over, say, 10 days or so. Quote
Guest Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 Nick ..i hope you didn't just say you thought any sort of Seloc tour would be good ............ i mean a week with a bunch of ....................................../carrier lost. Quote
mg_dot Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 Stelvio pass was originally used to test Elise brakes - and now there's an annual pilgrimmage. It is not a SELOC trip as such - but groups from SELOC have joined up with the original organisers for the last couple of years. I know Harv hates "road runs", but this sorta trip is great if you love driving on twisty & scenic mountain roads with like minded enthusiasts http://www.hazelnet.org/stelvio/ Quote
oioi Posted October 25, 2004 Posted October 25, 2004 for se7ens tours have a look at http://www.badgerum.com/se7enstour/index2.htm interestingly i recently approached the chairman with an offer to organise a wscc tour to europe. I am thinking about starting a business organising tours in europe and the UK and thought I could use the wscc as guinea pigs. He was going to get back to me (hint hint). I was thinking something in the region of 8-9 days taking in some great roads like stelvio. there are a variety of options, either head for the alpes or possibly the pyrennes from bilbao. longer more expensive ferry journey but perhaps something slihtly different once there. Either way my rough budget cost would be something in the region of 1500 - 2000 for half board plus ferries etc. Sound interesting? let me know what you think Mike Quote
Nick M Posted October 25, 2004 Posted October 25, 2004 Yes, it sounds interesting. But the price might make one or two people (myself included truth be told) think twice. 1500-2000 quid gets you a nice holiday these days so the hotels, meals, etc., would need to be pretty sw**ky IMO. And bear in mind the se7ens tour to the US is 3 weeks long and costing around about 3,500 quid including shipping the cars, flights and hotels (not sure about meals tbh). I do, however, think there's a market for this sort of tour so good luck if you fancy making a go of it as a business. I suspect you'd find a ready market among some of the more swan owners clubs like the Jags, Bentley, Astons and Porsche owners clubs of this world. Or even tailoring a tour for individuals - they tell you where they'd like to go and you sort out a route, hotels, etc ?? Quote
pistonbroke Posted October 25, 2004 Posted October 25, 2004 Sure it could be done for under a grand with a bit of "roughing it" thrown in. Main cost would be ferry - fuel , not been euro for a while but thought camp sites were good and cheap , along with food beer ? Just need an organiser ! paging megablade paul ! Quote
adhawkins Posted October 25, 2004 Posted October 25, 2004 We're planning on doing our own 'small' tour of France next Summer. Planning about a week's worth. I'd love to do the South of France (driving the Westfield around Monaco would be cool) but I'm not really one for heat We'll see... Andy Quote

They are based (roughly) on the last se7ens europe tour covering the area we are talking about. The hotels on that tour were "nice" not too flash but not down at heel either. Price also included support truck etc. 3 weeks in USA for 3,500 is a bargain, but hotels etc are much cheaper. Plus numbers are much greater than I would anticipate for a first wscc europe tour. I guess if the wscc wants a lower cost option that could be arranged. Your right my idea for the business would be tailoring to peoples needs. Just fancied dipping my toe in the water first. Ill chat with Mark and take it from there... Watch this space :-) Mike Quote

Calm down Bernie, tried to do Ireland last month but nobody wanted to play. Bit short notice though and the weather has been seriously dodgy. I have fancied the Stelvio pass for the last 2 or 3 years have read about it on the Seloc Forum and in their mags. Would be good to do Stelvio then into Italy and Modena where they make those red cars for a factory tour Quote
