DCOE fitting

Hi

Does anybody know how tight to do the bolts up that secure the carbs to the inlet manifold?  I've heard that the carbs should float a bit when they are fitted.

Don't over tighten so they are a "solid" fit - they should be "moveable" but not loose - if you get my drift  :D

OK thanks.  Are you aware of any sort of torque setting or is it just a case of having a feel?!

you do need to use the proper washers and rubber inserts!!

use nyloc nuts only and tighten them up untill there's about 1-2mm of rubber showing between the washers..

this will allow the carbs a small amount off movement.

hope this helps :t-up:

Yeah thats good thanks.  They've been leaking fuel between the manifold and the carb so I bought some new rubber cups and O rings.  I'd better go and fit 'em then....

are you using the mishab washers between the manifold and carbs!! then use the thackery washers(think this is what there called)between carb and nyloc nut.hope that makes sense!!

This is where you well me I've got the wron washers right?!!  I've got a set of the brass cups and rubber spacer type.

no thats spot on for fitting the carbs......but in between the carbs and manifold there should be some alloy washer type items with rubber bonded to them!

if you have all of these then your ok :t-up:

Oh yeah.  The "Misab" type rings they're called.  Its like an alloy plate with an O ring bonded to it.  The ones I am replacing are just literally  O rings on their own.  So I have the Misab o rings and rubber cup mounting washers.
