I'm looking to buy an air compressor for cleaning parts, waxoyling, spraying, running a few air tools etc...... and was wondering if anyone knows of any good deals ATM?

Best I've come across is this one, with free delivery.

Cheers  :)

If yu fart into a cannister a lot, you can build up some good pressure.

You have just missed Netto selling them for £50 - keep and eye out as Aldi and Lidl tend to sell the same stuff at about the same price a few weeks after each other.

You gets what you pay for.

I'd recommend trying to get at least 7CFM FAD (free air delivered - which is a percentage under the CFM quoted, depending on efficiency). Even mild home tools can need this delivery - particularly for painting.

Get an Axminster catalogue or visit Machine Mart and get some advice before you jump in.  :)

Get the bigest airtank and bigest compressor you can afford/fit in

It is one of the best bits of kit you will buy and you will find you use it for more stuff than you initialy think.

PS who wishes his was big enough to run an orbital sander !!!

I was recommended to get a minimum of a 2hp motor, plus the biggest tank you can fit/afford and minimum 7cfm - free air delivery for any sort of air tool beyond the basics.

If i remember right a dual action (da) sander uses 13 cfm of air and to use one without having to wait for the compressor to catch up, you need 3hp preferably on a 150 ltr tank.

I had a new system installed last tuesday consisting of 47cfm screw compressor, cooler, upright tank and all piping/conectors etc. £2300 which i was pleased with.

My old one died and wasnt worth repairing.

They lent me a small compressor which was on wheels and was about 4ft long and could barely keep up with spraying and just couldnt cope with my orbital sanders.

£2300
That's a bit excessive just to undo the wheel nuts on the Westie though isn't it?

:D  :D  :p I was just pointing out the problems with the small compressors

I've got one of the compressors from Aldi and i think it was about £100 including a 5 piece set of accessories.

For the money it's very good value (tank made in Italy etc) but at only 25 litres it can only be used for the basics.

You need the biggest tank your budget will allow....

got a sealey compessor a few years ago from a guy who is at a lot of the kit car shows it's the largest one i could find to run from a 13 amp supply and still be portable, it had a two year warranty and was an x display model think it's 3 hp (too cold to go and check) and 100 Litre tank.

paid less than half the manufatures list price

it did have to get sent back at one stage but been ok recently

can't remember the name but could find out if your interested ?

he is from cheshire somwhere all depends where you are in the country but i met him on his way back from a show about 7 miles from my house.

let me know if you want more information ?

Thanks chaps. Nick, thanks for the offer of info, but Cheshire is a bit far. Think I may go with the Tesco jobbie.

That compressor is £105.69 in the Machine Mart Catalogue so its a good deal.

However they have a vat free sale every couple of months, usually on a Sunday and then on the following Wed evening. Several branches are on at the moment (certainly Derby).

You would get it for £89.95 vat free.

They send out invites but I have got in before without one (you've obviously left it at home!;) .
