Jam Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 Oh maaaan! Just got another speeding ticket taking me up to 9 points with another 2 years to go before any of those drop off. My own fault I know, but.... I drive 25 to 30k miles a year and never had a single ticket until last year. I got one for doing 36mph where it changed from 40 to 30 on dual carriageway at 0230. Next one doing 47 in a 40 zone, again on dual carriageway where it dropped from 50 to 40. This one I did dangler up. 55mph in a 40 zone. no excuses really. All the above in a diesel estate car. Bummer. Just moaning. Let's face it I WILL get another one in the next two years and then what? The last one accepted but the first two should not incur points IMHO. But then I would say that. Any advice on snoopers/ diffusers etc. Quote

steve_m Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 My Bell 550 has saved my licence and saved me far more in fines than it cost. Well worth the investment, and I drive a diesel estate too ! Quote

Impney Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 If you were stopped and booked by the Police , not a lot you can do. However, if you have been caught by one of Gordon Brown 's revenue collection devices, then there is lots you can do. By just insisting on your rights , and making the authorities prove you are guilty. Most give up as it costs too much to pursue you for £60 when there are lots of people who just accept they have been caught and send the money. If you can be shown evidence that supports the accusation then fair enough. You are innocent until proven guilty! A quick search of the web will get you more specific advice including the words to use on correspondence. It does work, I have a colleague who has escaped 4 convictions so far and my brother in Scotland has also escaped a conviction. Total cost for my brother was £2.50 in postage plus a few sheets of A4. Beats a £60 fine and points. Quote
peterg Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 Get a Road Angel and keep it up to date - it'll pay for itself in a year if not sooner Quote
S8ight Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 Just moaning. Let's face it I WILL get another one in the next two years and then what? just because you get 12 points the ban is at the discression of the three gits youre up infront of. also have a read of this i know a few people who after being cautioned have asked to refer to PACE. as it says most traffic/patrol cars dont carry a copy so as long as you havent been caught doing silly things or excessive speeds its quite easy to wriggle out of a ticket. Barry Ashcroft Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 Get an originb2 gps based system with laser additional radar detection(not realy needed) and can be linked to a diffuser I have just ordered a LE30 which is the replacement to the LRC100. The originb2 is more compact than a road angel as does not have to sit on top of the dash looking ugly you can also buy for £100 a second car kit so you can also use in another car ie westy. Originb2 Check my signature Maybe a bulk buy if anybody is interested Barry Quote
