Streamline Carbon Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Hello to all of you, After reading the last e-mail with regards to the Carbon guards we have made I felt that I had to reply with some factual information. We make Carbon Fibre and moulds and have been doing so for quite some time. Our lawyer is Fenners of London (as used by Becks and many other high profile people) I have had a conversation with him and he has suggested the following options, 1, We should consider legal action against anyone who causes damage to our company by, incorrect information based on no fact. (this case) 2, Contact Westfield and offer to supply OEM (I will be doing this today) 3, It was also suggested to me that a CLUB is there for it's members and NOT for it's chairman's personal benefit. We may look into setting up a forum of our own for Westy's as one of our investors was the founder of a £60m internet company. He could do this in his sleep. I am sure you all have my contact details. I would be interested in talking to you all about this for feedback. Our moulds are LEGAL; because we have changed 100% of the surface layer (by making it larger in order to fit) They are LEGAL because we have not taken a mould from any complete part of the car. They are also LEGAL because we are not selling them as a Westfield OEM Part. If the Chairman fells he is missing out on something here, I will tell you what it is. You have just annoyed just about everyone who has shown an interest in our products, ( I know this because I have been contacted by many of them) Many Kind Regards Simon Westmore
oioi Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Hi Simon, First and foremost I feel that I should point out that I am not interested in your products - my personal opinion is that they are a bit too bling for me (the fact that I could not afford one in a month of Sundays is incidental ). The second thing I would like you to note is this website is not blatchat. It is very rarely we have postings as over agggresively and antagonistic as yours appears (that may well not have been your intention, but it is my interpreation). I suggest you read this thread here as an example of how easy it is for a forum to turn into a slanging match that does no ones business any good. you then go into a blah! about legal. Personaly i couldnt give a 4X about the legalities of the situation, but as an ordinary club member I do not like my club being attacked by somebody I see as an outsider. I suggest you remove your post and close this topic before we all get distressed and annoyed and you lose a load of potential customers. Best regards Mike Ketley
James Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Have i missed something? This chap seems to come on prity strong who's upset him?
studbuckle Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Quick answer. 1, We should consider legal action against anyone who causes damage to our company by, incorrect information based on no fact. (this case) This is a public forum, the views expressed in here are the views of the individuals and not of the club or its representatives. Threatening legal action isn't going to win you business is it? 2, Contact Westfield and offer to supply OEM (I will be doing this today) Certainly a good option and one that other company's with similar products have taken in the past, with some success. This doesn't mean you can't produce aftermarket non OEM products as long as the material copyright is respected. 3, It was also suggested to me that a CLUB is there for it's members and NOT for it's chairman's personal benefit. We may look into setting up a forum of our own for Westy's as one of our investors was the founder of a £60m internet company. He could do this in his sleep. I am sure you all have my contact details. I would be interested in talking to you all about this for feedback. Now this confuses me. Why would you consider this forum or club to be for the personal benefit of its chairman? I see no example of this anywhere in the club activities and this includes careful reading of the thread on this forum to which you refer. Kindly take your attitude and keep it to yourself.
Carl Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Well said Oioi Knocked off my list of companies anyway. Carl
Arm Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Have I missed something, was there an original thread to all of this ?
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 In my experience copyright is a very strong protection of design rights. Mess with it at your peril. It is automatic and covers designs far more effectively than patents. Production tools (moulds) have been forfeit and damages levied in the security industry in the past.
the bear Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Missed out on most of the posts leading up to this, but I would suggest that this guy has just lost whatever potential business he had with members of this club out of pure lack of respect for an individual or company that behaves in this way. As has been mentioned, our Chairman expresses his views and not the views of the club and having had many discussions with him in the past was probably acting in an advisory rather than threatening capacity anyway. In short, bye Streamline Carbon rather than buy Streamline Carbon.
adhawkins Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Did I miss something? If I ever were looking for something like this...this sort of attitude would move a company down to the bottom of my list... I'm with Si, what exactly does the OP think Mark gains from being Chairman of the WSCC? Andy
Mark B Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Presumably it's about this thread.......... http://boardroom.wscc.co.uk/cgi-bin....t=20342
Mark Purves Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Is there some sort of hidden agenda here between the company and the chairman, if so the do not bring it on to this boardroom. Also must be nice to be able to upset most of your customer base. Guess they won't be selling many bits to people on here then.
barney Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 as i read it,all the chairman did was politely give you the option to present your wares in a proper way ie via the club magazine, not in contravention in clearly dispalyed posting rules, which have by the way worked successfully for some time with no problems. The reply given in no way deserves the tone of your own reply.. just my 2 penneth
S8ight Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 . We may look into setting up a forum of our own for Westy's as one of our investors was the founder of a £60m internet company. He could do this in his sleep. WOW he must be a really great fellow. gosh i would love to meet someone like that and have their children.......oh, hang on, i couldnt care less i meant to say me thinks someone is a bit upset about having their posting/advert pulled from the site.
