Crash Override Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Just heard today that they're are trying to revive the Birmingham Super Prix but for saloon car racing, whether that means BTCC or GT cars I don't know but should be good to watch. If they manage to get the funding to do it then it should be back for 2006. Would be nice to see the guys in the Speed Series go round the course if that would be at all possible, being Birmingham is the home of Westfield an all. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Plan is to hold it over May Day weekend being Birmingham is the home of Westfield an all. No it ain't Mr Override Tis Kingswinford which is Black Country - nowt to do with them Brummies Quote

Big Bad Ben Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Birmingham Super Prix Like Monty, but more tunnels! Sounds bostin to me. Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 I hope they do. I went to two. the second one was more like a reggie festival from where we were spectating from. It was great, fast cars, Bob Marley (very load) plenty of drink! me and my 4 mates where the only honkies there... had a great time with the Bros. The best entertainment were the BTCC cars when it was for real drivers Mr Rouse,Harvey,Sytner(Muppet)Cleland,Soper,Smith(girlie DJ) etc Buzz Quote
Blatman Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 Got me all nostalgic Mr B. I'll be digging out my BTCC tapes tonight... Quote
neilwillis Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 It all ended tragically last time, so lets hope it's a success, it can only be good for the sport. All I can remember of it was that I ended up doing a lot of overtime! Perhaps I'll get to see some of the racing this time round. Quote
moomin Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 There's some more info on Pistonheads about this story - seems they are proposing demonstration runs rather than actual racing... moomin Quote
Mark Stanton Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 It all ended tragically last time Was only an engine landing on someones balcony no-one killed I don't think - but the council tenant that lived there got compo and moved Quote
Al Yupright Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 When I was a lad (about 12years ago) they used to have street racing on the old superprix circuit at about 2am on a friday night. Lots of cossies, presumably stolen. The most memorable was a Rover SD1 doing donuts. Me'n'me'mates went up to spectate every so often, till the meat wagon turned up... Wasted yooooth. Quote
