Am I on my own with this one?

I have notice lately that I have had more than the usual amounts of what I call telephone span, you know the thing phone rings you pick it up and you hear "congratulations you have won..." or "have you a few minutes to hear (read ten at least) of our exciting......its driving me and the missus nuts  !!!! they always ring just as you sit down to a meal and you have to be really rude to get rid of them or just put the phone down.....how do you deal with this increasing problem? Is there a way of stopping it?

Try the Telephone Preference Service.  We hardly ever get these calls since registering with them.

Agreed - the TPS, similar to the Mailing Preference Service (MPS) is superb.  It's run by the DMA and makes a very significant difference to the number of unsolicited calls you receive.

WE have caller line identification and ignore anything with "withheld" on the phone'd display.

last week started to get 2 -3 reverse charge calls every other day while i was out at work.

Voice ask you to press a certain key to accept or another key to rejet.

No one i know would use this system to phone me so i'm sure its just another way for someone to make money

I agree TPS does work, call 0845 0700707. Just follow the on line instructions!  Our SPAM calls dropped to almost nothing in 14 days :D
