Blatman Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 Bored at work..... Seems like they really need to save some money, so along with plant closures it may be that the F1 programme will be stopped too... DC to BAR then... Quote
adhawkins Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 Last I heard (admittedly a week or so ago) was that it was gonna be re-branded 'Ford'. Andy Quote
peterg Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 here but it doesn't say if Ford will take it over or they'll sell the 'team' to someone else.... don't forget the arabs were looking to buy into an F1 team earlier this year Quote

peterg Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 On Autosport.com... Ford has pulled the plug on its Jaguar Formula 1 team putting the Milton Keynes operation up for sale and casting serious doubts about whether the outfit will continue at all in 2005. The news, announced on Friday, sends shockwaves through the sport. The Jaguar brand entered F1 in 2000 when Ford bought the Stewart Grand Prix team. It has had mixed fortunes and has never achieved the success of similar manufacturer rivals. "Jaguar will be withdrawing from Formula 1 effective from the end of the 2004 season," confirmed Ford's chief technical officer Richard Parry-Jones. "In order for Formula 1 to pay-off for Jaguar, it needs to able to win. Jaguar just cannot afford the escalating costs required to win in F1." Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 here but it doesn't say if Ford will take it over or they'll sell the 'team' to someone else.... don't forget the arabs were looking to buy into an F1 team earlier this year According to Autosport this week. Ford will take over and will run the team next year. Picture of the car looks nice altho' it's a digi dip paint job in the picky. I think Jag will stay in manufacturing the UK. I was down at Gaydon on Business this tues and they reckon they'll be ok at the production plant...famous last words I suppose. I hope they don't stop production I do a good bit of business with them. Buzz Quote

adhawkins Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 Here it says: The Ford Motor Company's desire to cut costs has put paid to the firm's plans in Grand Prix racing with the closure of both Jaguar Racing and Cosworth Racing, Ford's competition engine subsidiary. The news was announced by Richard Parry-Jones, group vice president, Global Product Development, and Chief Technical Officer of the Ford Motor Company, the man who oversees the Ford Premier Performance Division, Sounds to me like Jag Rac is closing, not being renamed or whatever... Sideshow Bob Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 I work at Cosworth & can confirm we are up for sale, but still producing engines & supplying teams next year. Jaguar is up for sale. Ford is pulling the plug on all its motor sport interests in the UK, American racing side will continue as will Cosworths development of road engines/ non Ford branded products. Quote
studbuckle Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 The other side to this is that ford will probably pull out of WRC in order to fund the F1 team and as such over 100 jobs at Malcolm Wilsons M-Sport company under threat Quote
