peterg Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 Just in case some of you don't know about it, there is another Forum here called Seven Torque (geddit?) that a lot of people who lurk on Blatchat may well end up on when the threatened 'Members only' change happens - can't understand it myself but that's C8terham owners for you it's not been up long but they'd welcome anyone interested in se7ens of any kind Quote
CateringVan Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 can't understand it myself but that's C8terham owners for youIts all do with preventing the club from being sued in the event of someone being libelled. They had some legal advice which said something along the lines of if a person who makes a libellous posting cant be identified then the publisher of the website (ie the L7 club) becomes liable for it. The method they've chosen is to restrict blatchat to club members only, which has caused quite a bit of disquiet on blatchat (to put it mildly ) . Several other methods were suggested, eg a small 'blatchat fee' for non members to cover the cost of recording their identity, but members-only is the route thats been chosen. Either they have got it right and the WSCC and everyone else are wrong, or its the other way around BTW please dont start a debate about the pros and cons of why this has to happen because I and many others are fed up with it Seventorque is very quiet at the moment but I suspect it will get a lot busier when the members only change takes place Quote
Yobbo Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 Seventorque is also for all seven inspired cars, not just Caterhams. Quote
peterg Posted September 15, 2004 Author Posted September 15, 2004 Seventorque is also for all seven inspired cars, not just Caterhams er, that's what I just said they'd welcome anyone interested in se7ens of any kind Edited to add.... they have a BEC specific section as well Quote
adhawkins Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 Except their 'what car have you got' poll is a little one-sided... Andy Quote
Yobbo Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 Its worthy of reiteration as I think they are hoping that there will be a few open minded members over there rather than dyed in the wool sceptics of other brands that cause all the trouble and less than friendly inter-brand rivalry Quote
peterg Posted September 15, 2004 Author Posted September 15, 2004 then it's our job to change it we only need another 45 people to go over there and we'll overtake them Quote
Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 but they'd welcome anyone interested in se7ens of any kind Er isnt that what the se7ens list is all about Quote
pistonbroke Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 They had some legal advice which said something along the lines of if a person who makes a libellous posting cant be identified then the publisher of the website (ie the L7 club) becomes liable for it. This is the case for another (none car) forum I belonged to. If you did'nt post under your proper name and email addr then the post got deleted by the admin guys. Quote
