neilwillis Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 Alex, I drive my Westfield all year round too. I can't compete on the mileage stakes mind you! Wots wrong with driving in the rain anyway, the chasis is powder coated, and neither ali or plastic rusts Besides when its wet, all the wimps go home and give us hardy types more space on the roads Quote
Nick.Petty Posted September 15, 2004 Author Posted September 15, 2004 Nick, will have to let you know next time I am down and we can go for a blat. Defo, I am on here most days ... OK, EVERY day so the missus reckons Nicko Quote
CateringVan Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 neither ali or plastic rusts true, but its not quite than simple. If the powdercoat flakes off (quite a common problem on Caterhams of a certain vintage ) then you'll get galvanitic corrosion between ally and steel. Dont forget that although your bodywork is plastic your floorpan is ally so it wouldnt hurt to give it a light spray with waxoyl or Dinitrol before the winter salt starts to get at it. Quote
