Afraid IME unpaid for warranty repair parts will only be covered by the original warrant since it is the original device that you paid for and have buyer rights on. Hence if you get a repeating vehicle fault the dealers will typically provide parts until they get it out of warranty.

This is a different case to the waranty on individual parts which in their own right have a replacable warranty.

best arguing factor IME is a. Bad Customer Service Angle - be a pain in thier A***.

b. Prove the need to constant replacement parts is down to another root cause fault which wasnt addressed under warranty.

I think S8ight has it spot on. Warranty or not, the Sale of Goods Act may still apply. The only get out I can see is the fact that you didn't actually pay any money for the item. I can't see why that single fact should disadvantage the consumer to the advantage of the dealership. I think rather than the CAB, I'd be calling Trading Standards...

Owen not just for the sake of it my local dealership is CRAP and after its all been sorted I will be sending a letter to the managing director od the company to tell him that this company has had my car for 8 weeks you read it correct the first time and they still dont know what the problem is with my car! they have spent thousends of pounds replacing parts willy nilly and then call me up to tell me its fixed and when we go to pick it up it still has the same fault they dont even test drive the car afterwards they even tried to put diesel in the bl**** thing at one point and every time you walk in your made to feel that there doing you a favor.

unless there precious computer can tell themn whats wrong there stuffed and havnt got a clue goe are the days of mechanics we now have fitters oh good!

to be hounest after this is sorted   :bangshead:  :bangshead: i will never go back to my local dealership again I will make the 40 mile trip to the next nearest local dealership to get the car serviced etc ide rather do this than give my money to a company that demonstrate such incredable incompatance

Thanks for all the responses - hope its helped highlight what appears to be a common issue.

We have already spoken direct to Ford customer services, and they were the ones who told us that since we didn't contribute to the cost of the original replacement, we could not claim.

I have already adopted the disatisfied customer approach with my initial letter, pointing out how much business we give them (unfortunately, probably not enough for them to care).

I agree with those suggesting that the real issue is that there is another fault and that is causing the issues with the cat...

We shall see.....I'll let you know how we get on.

James , I'm sorry to hear you are having so many problems with your local dealers , but please don't tar the rest of us with the same brush .
