Fat Albert Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 To speak of many things... Including the sad news, at least for me, that my baby has departed to pastures new... I really enjoyed the rebuild, thanks a million to all those who helped, knowingly or unknowingly. So many members (and non members) provided invaluable assistance and the club really deserves its reputation for the welcome it gives newcomers. After a winter of effort and one and a half summers of pleasure it was time to... Start the next project, watch this space (hint add twelve and you won't be far away) Too many (cyber) friends to thank indivdually but Blatters, keep pushing (of course I mean the keyboard not the sprint car) Quote
Blatman Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 23B. Yumyumyumyumyumyumyumyumyumyum. A friend of mine had one in his workshop on a regular basis.... Too many (cyber) friends to thank indivdually but Blatters, keep pushing (of course I mean the keyboard not the sprint car) Why thank you. I hope you won't be too far away though. I'll *definitely* want to see a rotating 23B avatar Quote
Martin Keene Posted September 10, 2004 Posted September 10, 2004 I fear this is going to make me look like a pratt... but what is a 23B??? Not heard of it before... Quote
Big Bad Ben Posted September 10, 2004 Posted September 10, 2004 This is one: More photos and a bit of history here: Lotus 23B. What the purist would drive on the road....if it were legal BBB Quote
Fat Albert Posted September 10, 2004 Author Posted September 10, 2004 He He He You didn't think you'd got rid of me did you Incidentally although I haven't yet found (if one still exists) any of the six 23B replicas that Chris Smith built in the 80s you can buy a kit for an SVAable 23B here. In the Good Ol US of A the most popular road engine/box is Toyota sourced. You can also buy a 'period' replica eligible for an FIA HTP certificate. This means that you can race it in period, that is if the organisers/promoters don't have their noses stuck between their bum cheeks Quote
Mark Stanton Posted September 10, 2004 Posted September 10, 2004 any of the six 23B replicas that Chris Smith built in the 80s Speak to Paul Matty of Paul Matty Sports Cars in Bromsgrove A few years ago he was using a 23B for sprints and hillclimbing and it was an absolute gem a real beaut Quote
adhawkins Posted September 10, 2004 Posted September 10, 2004 Cor, small world. The previous owner of my car bought it from Paul Matty, and that's where the clutch was replaced just after it exploded when Studbuckle was test driving it Andy Quote
Mark Stanton Posted September 11, 2004 Posted September 11, 2004 Cor, small world Not really he's just at next motorway junction south from me (10mins or so) Paul has been dealing in Lotiii and westfields for possibly more years than he wishes to remember and was around with Westfield when it all began Quote
jasonp Posted September 11, 2004 Posted September 11, 2004 I've just seen an advert in Autosport (page 78). Westfield are relaunching the Eleven kit. Anyone getting one? Quote
Luke_Eliasz Posted September 11, 2004 Posted September 11, 2004 Looks like a strange but awesome car. Quote
