CrashBangWallop Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 Evening people, This is just a short mail to say that Chaz (ChazPowerSlide) is not on the internet at the moment. He had a fight with his lawn-mower and the NTL cable outside his house. The lawn-mower won quite easily, apparently, tearing the cable to shreds So, if anyone needs to contact him, pick up the phone, please. He's assuming that most of the people who would need to get in touch already have his number, as I'll not be posting it up on the site. Thanks, Neil Quote

ChrisF Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 Hi Neil When it come to Chaz and his antics...are we suprised? . . . . . . . . . . . NO Quote

Martin Keene Posted September 10, 2004 Posted September 10, 2004 I found that breaking the washing machine was a handy thing to do Why do I suspect there is a lot more to that story that we don't want (or need) to know... Quote
chazpowerslide Posted September 10, 2004 Posted September 10, 2004 Hi all, didja miss me? Watdoya mean Chaz and his antics, most sensible bloke on the plannet me :-/ I'm not saying anything further on the subject lawnmowers and NTL broadband cables (suffice it to say if they'd burried the cable when they installed it like I asked them to do more times then I care to remember I would'nt have caught it with the mower) but I have plenty to say about NTL customer diss-service. On hold a total of 5 hours trying to get the cable repaired, they forgot to log the repair, dropped calls, no appology, and repair date of 02/10/04 goodness me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went out today, brought the nessasary gubbins to splice in a new section of cable for £5.00 and here I am. Now, where did I but the grindstone, I've a lawnmower bade to hone......... Chaz. Quote
Richgm Posted September 10, 2004 Posted September 10, 2004 Chaz ring them up again and thell 'em you want compensation. It works quite often with NTL. If the person from customer services won't (or can't do it) the ask to be kicked up the ladder a bit higher. Rich Quote
chazpowerslide Posted September 10, 2004 Posted September 10, 2004 Oh I intend to complain alright, they have been crap from day one, the Cambridge office is just up the road from me, pitty I don't have a muck spreader............... Chaz. Quote
CrashBangWallop Posted September 10, 2004 Author Posted September 10, 2004 I hoped you liked my brief but ,too the point, referral. Man, I really needed to go clubbing tonight. miserable Cambridge batsrads were 'tired' And the muck-spreader was a Geordie guy. We know how to show disaproval up here Quote
Major Stare Posted September 11, 2004 Posted September 11, 2004 The NTL cable should be at least a spades depth under the lawn and protected by a conduit. This is NTL's SOP (Standard Operating Procedure). If a contractor did the work on behalf on NTL........cick off big time. Are you on Broad Band or Dialup? Be carefull using a temp repair, this can have adverse affects on other servises if you are using Broad Band. If your using dial-up, then a good'old 5Amp connector block will do. The repair date is not good enough........If its a Telco cable damaged then you should be classed as a priority call out, CATV and Broad Band are not priority im afraid. Quote
karlgurney Posted September 11, 2004 Posted September 11, 2004 they have been crap from day one I'll second that! The NTL cable should be at least a spades depth under the lawn and protected by a conduit I've seen them install the cable from the pavement upto the last property i lived in.they buried it no more than 2 inches below the grass over a distance of 10 feet i don't recall them using a conduit. and while drilling the hole in the wall they chipped half the surface of the brick off. Landlord not to pleased!!! Quote
adhawkins Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 The only thing NTL did when they installed my cable was put a spade in the lawn, lever it up a bit, and dump the cable in the 'slot' they'd made. It was about a year before the nice line in the lawn disappeared... Andy Quote
chazpowerslide Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 They are in for a rocket on Monday, thanks for the tips Major more ammo me thinks. I'm on broadband, the cable repair was easy enough and has not affected the opperation of my PC in any way (hopefully) Chaz. Quote
jak Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 they have been crap from day one I'll second that! I am fed up with NTL, my phone as packed in and when I tried to report it yesterday was informed by the automated service that the wait time to speak to someone was 1hr 15min!! Can anyone recommend a company that can offer telephone and broadbandmas well as good service? John Quote
