Pepi Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 Don't you feel that sometimes just sometimes that life in general just wants to kick you in the teeth? We have just had the worst spell of summer weather that I can remember and of course could'nt really go blattin at all!! Now the weathers turned and its absolutely be-flippin-autiful and I'm stuck in the house after a hernia operation and my surgeon tells me I can't drive for at least two weeks (thinks.....what have I ever done)? And to cap it all I could'nt go to Donnington either (still recuperating) and after looking at the pics posted on here, it looks as if it was the best meeting for ages oh I could just spit!! OK rant over , just lookin for some sympathy!! all the best chaps...Pepi Quote
studbuckle Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 Get well soon. I feel the same only it's the car that's sick, not me. Had to declare it SORN on 1/9 and it's done nothin but shine since Quote
Pepi Posted September 7, 2004 Author Posted September 7, 2004 Cheers Simon Thanks for the get well soon, feelin a little bruised at the moment, certain parts of me bearing an uncanny resemblance to the colour of my Westy ( see avatar ) but getting better by the day. Whats wrong with your Westy mate? or is it just that its laid up? Anything that us guys can offer advice on? Pepi P.S. I see from your website you have the same Westy as myself, nice to hear from a fellow Seight owner Quote
studbuckle Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 Oh I know what's wrong with it... The oil pump gears are shagged. New set ordered this morning but i've decided not to tax it so I can spend the tax money on upgrades for next year seeing as it's off the the USA for a 3000 mile tour. It kinda needs to be in good fettle Quote
Pepi Posted September 7, 2004 Author Posted September 7, 2004 The words of a brave man......3000 miles across the states you are braver than I am!! What upgrades were you thinking of? And when are you going? When you change the oil pump gears check that there's no scoring of the casing that they run in! Probably telling my grandmother how to suck eggs (if so apologies) Your v8 is almost exactly the same as mine... Weber 500cfm carb vitesse pistons edelbrock manifold etc etc check out my website link at the bottom of page. Pepi Quote
taffy Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 Hi Pepi, Where are you? We,ll come and pick you up and you can go out as a passenger! Rob Quote
studbuckle Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 Aye, not far off the same spec.... You have underslung and cast headers though. Plus my 'warm' cam. I've got a few mods to make given the money and time. Footwell vents misting system stone guards sump guard MegaSquirt Fuel Injection Electronic/remote ignition controller GPS oil temp guage removable steering wheel and at some point, the agreed Radio/CB for next year As for the gear housing, there is some scoring on the timing cover inner walls but i'm hopeful that a new set of gears will sort it out. Pepi Posted September 7, 2004 Author Posted September 7, 2004 Hi Taffy thanks for the offer mate I'm in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire but I think at present I would have a little difficulty even getting in a westy at the moment (trying to walk without moving ones legs seems to be the main priority at the minute LOL Simon WOW!!! Thats quite a list of major mods to be going on with now I understand why you have declared SORN for the time being, every one of those jobs is'nt going to take five minutes is it? You have me puzzled on one mod tho "misting system?" got to show my ignorance there. Quote
studbuckle Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 You have me puzzled on one mod tho "misting system?" got to show my ignorance there. basically there are a couple of products on the market that create a fine water mist for cooling your face etc. We're trying to think of a way to mount one or two of these in the car for the really hot legs of USA2005 Quote
Pepi Posted September 7, 2004 Author Posted September 7, 2004 LOL I was really up the garden path with that one, I thought it was a new fangled bit of kit for the engine, water injection or something!! So its an open top air con system? I suppose you are going to get some extremes of temperature out there! Let us know how you get on. Quote
Blatman Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 Might be worth fitting one in front of the rad too.... Quote
studbuckle Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 I'm not overly worried about the cooling on the engine. It runs cold even in the hottest hardest driving over here so a 50mph cruise accross the desert should be ok. However me 'n' her might boil Quote

Although mine runs ok driven normally (is there a normal way of driving a Westy?) in traffic she can get a "bit" warm,so what's different in your cooling system? Quote
