Instantaneous ignition kill thing?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

During competition, I generally change up without using the clutch. I do have to lift though and having less than perfect coordination, the changes couldn't be described as seamless. wobble.gif

I remember seeing an electronic box of tricks on someone else's car a long time ago which IIRC killed the ignition for an instant when pressure was applied to the shift stick.

Did a cursory search but didn't come up with much. There was a HoleShot product but not quite right.

Any ideas?

TIA

Cheers,

Called flat shifters... You could have a look on the BEC list as I'm sure there was one up for sale there.

Also see SBD's web site

Steve uses a clutchless up and down shift on his OMS

Found that and have emailed the guy to see if it's still available.

Thanks for the replies guys. bowtie.gif

Barney,

Is it really possible to keep foot to the floor and just bang through the gears when you see the amber or red light? ... or is it not quite as simple as that?

Also ... did you fit the unit yourself?

Yes, it is as simple as that

BTW : the SBD system has software written by an ex-ARROWS engineer and will do automatic up AND downshifting so no gearchanging by hand or foot  :suspect:  only problem is that the system cost £9k !!  :xmas:

You could do that yourself: Two shift light boxes, some logic circuitry, electric gear shifter and a flat shifter - job done for a lot less than £9,000

Of course the GB might not last too long  :D  :D  :D

Im going to fit the translogic systerm to mine after sva

it comes with a dinky little display that has shift lights, gear postion indicator and lap timer all for 600.00 or with push button change and auto upshift(you just program what revs you want to change up at and floor it!;) for about a grand! Its top kit to and is used by many bsb teams.

As Barney is on Family holiday I can tell you that he did fit the unit himself.

Even with his limited technical knowledge

There were however four of us on standby with fire extinguishers when it was first tested.
