johnnystorm Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 Another daft question from me..... I take it a Long wheel base transit van (or similar) will be enough to fit a CKD Westfield kit in? Cheers JS Quote
KerryS Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 I pick up my kit from Westfiekd next Saturday - my birthday! - and I have hired a luton van with a tail-lift. I also have bought a dolly (aka a bit of wood with wheels on) to strap the engine to. The factory can hoist it onto the dolly and I can wheel it off at home without need for any other lift. It can sit on the dolly until I need it. From recommendations at the Notts/Derby meet, the factory are keeping the bodywork until I need it, thus a) it won't be in the way and b) it stands less chance of getting damaged or distorted before I need it. This unfortunately means another van hire sometime. Kerry S Quote
Mitchamidilly Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 I am also leaving bodywork until needed. Good idea in my opinion for reasons already stated. Especially if you live close to the factory. Quote
darthurs Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 You should be able to fit it all in a Mercedes Sprinter LWB. I got the whole SDV kit in one inc 5 wheels and tyres. Good luck with the build Dan Quote
Mat Jackson Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Unless you have a hoist of some kind you will need a tail lift to get the engine in and out of the van!!!! The other thing you will need is some kind of trolley for the engine to move it around. HSS (and other hire shops) hire out "sack trucks" and I found this ideal for my second hand unit. Make sure you have a good nose around the factory when you pick the kit up. I`m always like a kid in a sweet shop when I get there!!! Mat Quote
