karlgurney Posted August 30, 2004 Author Posted August 30, 2004 What a cool day that was My fastest time of the day was 15.78 @ about 90mph, not bad for my pinto lump. Just makes me realise how much i need a engine upgrade though. I was getting some really good starts off the line but after about 60-70mph it wasn't really pulling much and thats when i was getting over taken. It was great to see a few westy's turn up and meet up with Mark and Rob. Shame there was so many cateringvans there. Next year i will try and get more involved with the event and get invites for the wscc. Karl P.S Mark what sort of times were you and Rob getting after i left, did you hang around for long? Quote
adhawkins Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Karl, top end acceleration is affected a lot by the windscreen. Just taking that off can get you about 10 MPH extra I believe. Andy Quote
Mrs Westy Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 I'm bored ****less now Literally as well as bored of it though, eh Buzz I hope you have given your doctor a nice sample pot, do you know what the culprit was? [/morbid fascination] Quote
karlgurney Posted August 30, 2004 Author Posted August 30, 2004 i see where your coming from andy, he he no windscreen means i don't need your sidescreens Don't worry you'll get them back seriously though i believe thats true, i've only just got Mrs G to enjoy the car she won't be happy if i take the screen off now. however its going to happen one day just waiting on the Westy fund to build up again Quote
adhawkins Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 If you enter something like this again, it might be worth taking the screen off for the day, just to see how much difference it makes? Andy Quote
Mark Stanton Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 If you do remove your screen - its probably as well to fit an aeroscreen to deflect wind over and around you otherwise your own chest is gonna feel some pressure and you will be like an air-brake yourself - just like a biker raising themselves above the fairing when braking Quote
adhawkins Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Surely no screen (or aeroscreen) would be better than a screen though, for the purposes of a quarter mile time? Worth a try... Andy Quote
Mark Stanton Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Probably - but if you're just gonna do quarter mile straight line stuff then get yourself a V8 dragster and no more worries about a screen Quote
adhawkins Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Not sure how much Karl's wife would like that Andy Quote
adhawkins Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 In a Westfield? Now that I'd like to see... Andy Quote
