frubpato? Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 I've just had my work/personal laptop fiddled with to run a VPN for Home working. They took off the firewall I was running wiht 2000 prof and left me naked . As I shouldn't really use the work laptop for this stuff and wont get the money back are there any free shareware thngs out there which will give me protection as I'm runnning broadn=band and I know they are looking at me - bas---ds Quote
BuzzinRich Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 Yep, Zone alarm is about as good as it gets for free! Quote
steve_m Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 Some VPN clients have a firewall built into them, depends on which one you've got and how it's been configured. Obviously corporate networks don't want to allow traffic in when you're connected or to allow your laptop to be infected with somehting which then infects them through the VPN. Quote
Camel_Landy Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 If your work place has given you VPN access without sticking a firewall on then they need to be shot! It's soooo easy for someone to piggy back on your connection to then access your companies systems.... Tell them to give me a call if they want someone to show them how to do a proper VPN infrastructure. The last one I put together was a mixture of Cisco VPN, Sygate firewall & SecureID for the client and a mixture of Cisco & Checkpoint for the DMZ. Mark. Quote
